And the Monty hire was a lot like the Wojick hire, tho Wojick was a little better coach and Monty is less of an arse. When was the last time we made a great hire in FB or BB? It’s been a long time and a lot of missed. I think about this with the “fire everybody” crew - our history of hiring isn’t great even when we have more resources. If we’re fishing through the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for a new coach like we would now, there’s little reason to think the current powers that be will come up with the passed over diamond... it’s these kinds of budget times that led us to JP and BB in the first place.
Not to mention the inferior search firms we hired ... if you nickel and dime the process, the process will get you a penny wise and pound foolish result.
Its not just the search firms... our hiring committee has been pretty Effin stupid at times... Keith Burns instead of Larry Coker... smh.
