Shaq Harrison

39 minutes 7 of 13 shooting, 1 of 1 on 3’s, 3 of 3 FT, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 TO and 5 fouls. +14. In regulation with the Bulls only up by 2 Shaq hit a three, stole the ball then on the drive made layup and got fouled made the and one.

I just imagine the starting linups being read in the same voice as the Air Jordan days..."From TULSA...at guard... 6'4".... SHAQUILLE HARRISON" I mean... Shaq is starting in the same spot that Jordan did! That just evokes a weird combination of pride and nostalgia for me.

I’ll say it again, the Thunder should do whatever they can to get Shaq signed to replace Felton. Felton is terrible. Even if Shaq can’t score or shoot consistently, he can at least defend and watching the Thunder play the other night against Miami, it was apparent that Felton was a liability against Dragic who lit the Thunder up.

Felton is tight with George and Westbrook. Probably a big part of why George stayed. He will get paid as long as he wants.

How long did Michael Ruffin stay in the NBA playing defense against 7' centers...8-10 years? Shaq can do that. I think sportswriters following NBA teams like the guys who don't take playing in the NBA for granted like a lot of the superstars. Tony Allen and James Posey were some of my favorite players from the (Boston reference coming :)) Celtics 2008 team that won the title. They were the "glue" guys and the defensive stoppers. IMO, Allen is one of the best defensive players in the history of the NBA. Shaq can be that type of defensive player. Shaq also plays a little bit bigger than his listed height because of his athleticism so he can probably guard the 1-3 spots and the 4 in a pinch or on switches.

We all need to start lobbying Sam Presti to get him to OKC. That 2nd unit for the Thunder is atrocious on defense with regards to the guards.

I was surprised they called him a small forward instead of a guard. I guess he’s a really small forward.

I wish all our players played as hard as Shaq, but not many do, including NBA players.

I loved defense when I played and coached and appreciate Shaq so much. Would much rather have had a steal or deflection versus a score. There’s just something about shutting down the other team’s best guard. He did a number on Beal.

Shaq just dropped a double double tonight with 21 points on 10/17 shooting with 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, while playing great defense. I really think he is going to have a long career In the NBA. He just gets better and better due to his intense work ethic.
Did anyone see this game? Did Shaq have the assignment of guarding Lillard to start? Lillard only had 13 pts on 3-12 shooting. If Shaq did guard him, that’s a hell of a job b/c Lillard is a freaking stud

I watched he and Woodard up close at Tulane one year. I have never seen two guards play as hard as they did those last 5 minutes of the game.

I watched some of the highlights of the game and from what I saw, Shaq was guarding Lillard.

A big problem for him is that there are an incredible number of very talented guards in the NBA. Elite defense can get you far. He can’t be a worse shooter than Roberson.

I love that he is kicking ass.

Shaq is a much better ball handler than Roberson. Shaq’s heel is he is a below average jump shooter. That’s it. He does everything about as well as most NBA guards and of course he is an elite level defender as a guard.

I agree on the ball handling and I LOVE Shaq and hope he plays in the NBA for many years but he isn’t at the same level of defense as Roberson.

Granted they’re not a very good comparison of one another since Roberson is a 6’7 SF that plays the 2 and can’t guard the 1 thru 4.

Shaq played 34 minutes tonight, 7-13 FG, 1-2 3pt FG, 4 reb, 2 STL, 1 AST, 1 TO. If I had to guess he probably drew the assignment of guarding Bradley Beal who ended w/ 19 pts.

Bulls started 4 guards and both Shaq and some other guy were listed as PGs. I hope someone gives him a true shot to be the backup and be that glue guy. He’s shown he is well capable of playing at an NBA level and guarding any PG/SG in the league with success.

His low TO rate and defensive ability will keep him in the NBA for a long time; coaches like having athletic backup players that don't turnover the ball. Also, it is starting to look like his ability to attack the basket works even at this level. Something that I wasn't sure he'd be able to do in the league.

I don't know if there is a measurable speed metric with the ball but I would venture to guess that there aren't many in the league who are fast while dribbling. Maybe Westbrook...maybe Trae Young.

Shaq also has the benefit that teams aren't bringing down low help when he is driving because they simply don't see him as a threat and don't game plan when he has the ball. If that's the case then coaches are not doing their jobs (and neither are the players).

De'Aaron Fox is another comp.

Crap, you're right. Westbrook was getting blown by by Fox.

I suppose Rajon Rondo back in the day was a pretty fair comparison too. Except Rondo is tiny. But like Shaq, Rondo wasn't a very good shooter.
