I dont see the AAC adding teams absent defections which would decrease the long term per team payouts. There are no teams available imo which would be a long term net revenue positive. In fact, my assumption is our latest additions will have a net negative per term payout effect once they start receiving full shares.

This man is correct. However I disagree there is any long term reasoning. This will all change in three years. Until then, why would ESPN agree to pay $7 million to a school they are paying $1 million and have under contract until the next round of changes start to happen in 2028 as folks position for the current playoff contract to expire in 2030

Are you expecting significant shuffling in the upper G5 leagues like the AAC?

Aren’t we expecting FSU and Clemson to Big 10
Then Memphis Tulane USF to ACC
Then TU should consider PAC 12 or MWC
American may dissolve

IMO we certainly wouldn't want to stick with the reconstituted CUSA if USF, Memphis, & Tulane leave.

I think PAC 12 would want to take 2-4 Texas/Ok teams as travel partners for Texas St. and would have their pick over MWC. MWC will get the leftovers. If they take 4 we're probably in. If they take 2 then N Texas and UTSA/Tulsa/Rice would be the adds. So we would have to look better than UTSA and Rice.

MWC with 1 or 2 travel partners for Utep, and 1 or 2 travel partners for NIU would still look better than the reconstituted CUSA/AAC IMO.

Why does everyone keep trying to put us in the old WAC?

My sense, which is quite limited at this point, is that most schools will be vetted by spending. You spend this, you go here. You spend that, you can go there. You upgrade your stadium and spend this, you are invited there. In a take it or leave fashion that puts the leave its into an FCS style division that itself is divided by player compensation levels.

The good ol days of a bunch of good ol’ boys getting together on a bass boat and setting up a scheme to enrich themselves and leave millions on the table to benefit TV is pretty much over. Which means the puzzle piece game folks like to play on here is largely over too.

So since I have no idea what Tulsa, Tulane, Memphis, USF and others are able or willing to spend, I don’t really know where they are going. The debt levels at the other three schools are so extreme they can’t be counted on to promise anything to players. Although Tulane is in the best shape of the other two.

I was referring to your preferences lol

How is the old but reconfigured CUSA any better? The only schools that would be left over from the AAC of old is Navy, E Carolina, and Temple. Not much of it remains. I guarantee you our new tv deal(AAC) will likely be worse than either of those two conferences new tv deals. We might not even get ESPN to make an offer, or a competitive offer to other networks. Whether we lose money between the new & likely bigger Tv deal, and the increased cost of travel is of interest to look at, but maybe not of enough merit to sway us to stay in the AAC.
