TULSA FOOTBALL PRE-GAME NOTE

With the celebration of Homecoming, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team will wear new ‘throwback’ uniforms for Saturday’s matchup against the Memphis Tigers.

Today’s game uniform dates back to the 1950s Golden Hurricane uniform. Tulsa will wear red jerseys with blue and gold stripes on the sleeves, gold pants and gold helmets with a middle blue stripe flanked by red stripes down the center of the helmet.

The jersey is near replica style of the 1950s jersey, but with the jersey number on each sleeve.

The 2011 season was the last time that Tulsa wore a red ‘throwback’ uniform.

Tulsa unveiled red ‘throwback’ jerseys in the 2008 season opener against New Mexico to celebrate the opening of the renovated H.A. Chapman Stadium. Those jerseys, which were worn during the 2008-2011 seasons, had block ‘TULSA’ on the front.
