There is a post about Pooh on the free board but I thought it best to keep my response over here.
Prior to his time at Memphis, Pooh coached as an assistant for eight years in the state of Texas with stops at Texas A&M, SMU, TCU and Texas Tech. He also has coached at Washington State, Illinois State, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. No head coach offers in 15 years as an assistant. That says a lot unfortunately as he is an all time favorite of mine.
I think the very best move would be to hire Rod Thompson as Director of Player Development with elevation to assistant if Paulino, McDonald, or Seals leave.( and one might leave this year) The donors need to supplement the salaries of all the coaches except the head coach who is well (some say over well) compensated. There is always a concern that a new incoming coach in the future would not retain an important assistant and that is the biggest hurdle to consider. Mr. Lawson at Memphis sending his sons to Kansas after Tubby demoted him for Saul is the most recent example.
