Penny Hardaway goes a vulgar rampage against media after another loss

Our coach won’t even meet with the media after the game, so there’s that. Instead, our fans talk like Penny during and after each game.
Tubby is sitting somewhere today with a big smile and lots of buyout money. He knows the fans deserve Penny and his continued failure.
Fan bases and athletic boosters are so impatient when it comes to rebuild jobs. Both Texas Tech and Memphis were in much better places after Tubby left and had those 2 schools been a little more patient, they would have seen the results. Tech fans now admit that Tubby built a good base that was left for Chris Beard to take them to the next level. Memphis would have gotten there with Tubby but you have asshats like Penny chirping about how he can get all the 5* to come to Memphis. Great. You've got a ton of 5* and pretty much nothing to show for it. No conference championships, no NCAA accolades...nothing. Just a 40 pt loss to Tulsa while also having the #1 recruiting class in the country. Penny may be a worse coach than Kevin Ollie and that's saying something
He is right about that being a stupid ****** question though lol. “Have you lost faith you can get this done? Are you embarrassed?” That’s disrespectful to a level you don’t normally see from a media member.
Yes but Tubby or even Haith would have handled that question respectfully in front of the cameras.
This reminds me of Haith getting asked on live radio at the end of last season if he expected to still be the coach this season. He at least handled it way better than Penny. I wish he had handled this season better though.
I mean, it makes perfect sense really, get a guy who's a world class recruiter, surround him with good bench coaches, how could memphis possibly have known it wouldn't work out?? Cough CoughJoshPastner Cough Cough. Sorry, just got a little something down the wrong pipe.
The difference is Pastner had actual coaching experience at the college level. Penny was a high school coach who can’t admit he doesn’t know it all.
Some will say Sunday will be a classic matchup of inept coaching vs inept coaching. Put those two together and someone's message board will explode Sunday night.
My point is that memphis has a bad habit of taking coaches who deliver the players and don't focus on whether those coaches can actually coach (Tubby).
I certainly don't think Penny was an irrational choice. You take some risks on a guy who can deliver 5* recruits, I totally get it. But I think memphis is too fixated on that.
To me, the worst point of this presser wasn’t his f-bombs. It was his answer to what happened to allow SMU to pull away. His answer, ‘I don’t know.’
We all know one that doesn't seem to have a clue. Guess if you don't do the post game you can hide the ineptness.
