From ESPN writer Jeff Borzello:
"Buddy Hield: As a freshman, 23.8% from 3. As a senior, 50%.
Jordan Woodard: As a sophomore, 25.4% from 3. As a junior, 55.2%.
Isaiah Cousins: As a freshman, 25.0% from 3. As a senior, 43.6%."
They are obviously doing something TU isn't. Granted Hield, Woodard, and Cousins are more talented players, they have still shown huge improvement. There is no reason our players shouldn't have shown similar improvement. In my opinion, this means a couple things 1) The TU coaches aren't teaching our guys well enough in regards to shooting 2) Our senior class lacks the motivation it takes to become a better shooter (numerous hours spent in the gym using correct technique).
Basketball is a game of Practice ! As a coach in middle or high school you show your players proper shooting form, ballhandling drills, agility and strength regimen. Its all about repetition and putting your own sacrifice in meeting those goals. You can harp and cajole your players all day long about being mentally and physically tough on the floor and on the boards, but in the end its up to the player to be the best he can be. Haith can maybe make the coaching difference in a few ball games per season, however if you don't have the horses to be successful it ain't going to happen with pixie dust !!From ESPN writer Jeff Borzello:

Different defensive philosophy for Self this game. Dare OU to beat you with Spangler and Latin. While they are both good players and had good games, you're betting that they're not the 2 guys that can beat you. Kansas didn't slide outside offside help down on them when they got the ball. If you noticed, Spangler and Latin did most of their damage in transition and being ready when Woodard or Cousins drove the ball. Mason was never more than 3 inches from Hield most of the night and Hield's shooting performance was remarkable considering that. Self's defense essentially didn't collapse the lane with 5 defenders leaving kick outs to open shooters. Then again, Kansas has some capable interior defenders that don't need a ton of help. If we had that, we wouldn't have to drop off shooters.I thought it interest how Self defended the three by blanketing the shooters at least making them take a tough shot. Never a wide open three. Also note the tenacious defense at the end to steal the game back.
I think when we look at the season thus far, it is on par with about how I thought they would do record wise. Looking at the schedule before the season I thought they would lose to Wichita St., one game in the early season tournament, OK State, Oregon St., SMU, and Cincinnati, which would put them at 8-6. So the fact that they are 8-6 isn't a surprise. For me at least, I forgot how TU played towards the end of the season last year combined with them beating Wichita St., which skewed my expectations of the team.
And to answer your question @TU Hurricane Warning maybe some of the seniors aren't happy at TU and/or just want to graduate. That is just a hypothesis and not based on facts, but I can't seem to think of anything else. Besides Woodard and maybe Shaq none of them have a chance at playing after college, and you've gone through 3 coaching changes, you're focused on graduating/finding a job, I can see how one would mail it in.
