A quick check of the ticket map shows several thousand still available. I didn’t think it would sell out but I did expect more sales by now.

Cowboy fans will probably start snatching them up now after the way they started their season tonight.

OkState fans are thinking they’ll challenge for the Big XII title now and some are questioning why Gundy didn’t play Sanders last year. Pump the brakes Poke fans. You’ve got talent on offense but thinking this offense is capable of staying in Big XII games is a bit premature. Oregon State is the worst team in the PAC-12, a conference that is a collective 0-10 in their last ten against the MWC and AAC combined. The Beavers defense is worse than Kansas’ the last decade in the Big XII. If I was OkState I’d be concerned about how bad the DL looked overall against a mediocre, at best, offensive team. And seriously, TU might be the best defensive team they play all season. And if Michigan State’s OL can’t block Gipson, I doubt OSU is going to have better success without bring the RB in to chip him as well.

There are still a lot of tickets available. Weather will be in the mid 80s so maybe we’ll get a good walk up.

I do not think many (any?) OSU fans think they will challenge for the Big12 title. OU and Texas are both playing on a different level. You are correct that some (many?) are questioning why Gundy did not play Sanders and Brown last year. However, I disagree that this offense is not capable of staying in Big12 games, other than OU and Texas.

Also, agree that OSU should be concerned about the DL, especially if Bundage is not full strength, and blocking Gibson is a concern.

OSU has the better team as the point spread indicates and if they both play at their capabilities OSU should win. However, this a bigger game for TU than OSU and emotions will be high. If Sanders has a good outing he may well be a difference maker.

In the final analysis, as in many games, the team that makes the fewest mistakes and wins the turnover battle will likely win the game.

Actually some of the talking heads around here were so impressed with how easily OSU moved the ball against Oregon State, some actually mentioned being able to stay in games against OU and Texas. Now, OU still hasn't had a proper test. They did fine against Houston but Houston lacks any running game not designed for the QB and their OL and WRs are being retooled plus a brand new system under Holgorsen. I think Houston eventually gets there but OU got off easy with it being game 1 instead of game 5 or 6. Texas is just not as good as all the preseason hype proclaims them to be. LSU is better on offense than they have been but I would still pick 'Bama or Georgia to run circles around the Tigers.

And Oregon State lost to Hawaii and gave up 4 bills passing. I like Hawaii's team but the last place team in the PAC-12 is going to come down to UCLA and Oregon State. They're both terrible and I would venture a guess that UCONN and ECU might give them a run for their money.

OSU will be the 2nd most talented offensive team we see this year behind Memphis. (I'm not sure UCF with Wimbush, or Houston are quite there yet). But, and tell me if you haven't seen it yet....this TU defense just feels different. The 2012 defense was good and had playmakers in the right spots but this defense just seems to have special playmakers in every position. Hell, I've never been a great Manny Bunch fan but he is playing lights out this year. Our DL is special. Our DBs play some pretty tight coverages. Yes, they'll be tested this week but I think they'e up to the challenge. I don't think OSU's line is as good as Michigan State's line and I think Trevis Gipson will be one of those players the network guys start drooling over in this one.

Behind Memphis? Come on. They scored 15 points against a down ole miss.

Yeah....OSU will be by a considerable margin the most talented offensive team we will face this season. Wallace and Chuba will both be playing on Sundays next year. Sanders is young but he was the Gatorade Texas POTY his senior year. A freshman QB going up against TU's defense gives the blue and gold a chance in this game. Get a couple of early turnovers and this is a really interesting game going into the 4th quarter.

OSU's offensive scheme is based almost solely on the defensive alignment. Play two high and OSU will run the ball. Bring another defender into the box and OSU will go over the top. TU will likely try to stop the run and keep the safeties deep. If they are successful then OSU will have issues. Oregon State kept their safeties deep and OSU ran the ball. McNeese brought an extra defender up and OSU threw the ball all over the field. Their offense is actually pretty simple.

I think the game within the game is Gillespie and the 3-3-5 vs. Sean Gleeson and the offense he had a ton of success with at the FCS level @ Princeton. A lot of movement and excellent blocking schemes for runners. Our defensive front 7 has to come ready to shed blocks and push OSU's line into the backfield. Our secondary has to play within themselves and be conscious of trickeration.

If I'm Gillespie I'm calling every Ivy League coach for tape on that Princeton offense.
