Official TU-Cinn game thread

Well…that might have been the worst they’ve played all year.

Cincy missed a ton of wide open looks, alley-oops, and layups…they could have scored 60.

TU was awful on offense. There was a stretch of 7-8 possessions where they didn’t get a shot off.

They can’t get an open shot right now.

turnovers are irritating but the lack of scoring is killing us. you can’t go 8+ minutes without a field goal (and only 2 free throws) and win games. We did well the first 10 minutes then came that drought.

Tulsa up 25 - 22 over Cincy, 6:20 left in the first half.

Selebangue had a poor first half with multiple turnovers.

Also I have never seen a team have so much trouble scoring in transition. Is it lack of size? If so perhaps we should pull the ball out unless it is an uncontested layup.

TU leading Cincy 49-37 less than 2 minutes 3rd quarter.

I know we're playing awful, but Cincinnati is going to get destroyed in the Big 12.
I don't think we are playing awful but we had a long dry spell. Still playing a lot better than a month ago but our competition is much better as well. This is not Detroit Mercy.

Outside of Houston, our conference is just not very good this season. It's not like a few years ago when you would have multiple tournament caliber teams plus a couple with 5 star talent and bad coaches. (UConn)

We are simply way too small to win in this league. Vastly undersized.

Other problems too but this is the #1 thing IMO. Watching tonight makes it obvious. And our opponent isn't especially big compared to others.

Checking in while watching the Thunder. Is this thread for men’s, women’s or both? I can’t tell.

If we can find a few more good recruits, Tulsa can easily move past teams like Cincinnati. I know it's been stated, but we need more height desperately. No recruits under 6'5", please.

I think we will see an uptick next year. We knew that this would be a throwaway year thanks to Haith.

It’s a thread for the mens team but someone has to be a jerk and keep inserting women’s scores instead of starting his own thread. He’s on ignore for me now.

So are both squads playing Cincinnati tonight. Which one is at home? Sorry, I don’t follow college basketball much anymore.

64-50 TU women win at home.
Poindexter and Crawford were solid Sophs with double digit scoring but Freshmen Lyles 14 points and Perimen 8 rebounds really stepped up with Biddle and Young out. Also Levings didn’t play in second half and very little after Q1.

TU ladies beat Cinncy with 2 or 3 starters out with injury and the ladies controlled the game from the 1st quarter till the end. Nelp has 2 seniors and a team loaded with freshmen and sophomores. They are fun to watch and will only get better!

I could blame several things for my incoherence in posting incorrectly - the lack of sleep, the pain medication I’m taking, etc. but I own the mistake.

I have enjoyed watching the women’s team play the last two years - only on TV, as my health has not allowed me to do otherwise. They are fun to watch and Nelp has adapted with different lineups due to injuries. All of the players step up and last night they had a very young lineup for much of the game. I am excited for the future for their team.

Even when we did make it to Tulsa in November I was unable to make it to the Reynolds Center from downtown because I had no energy left. I hold out hope that I’ll eventually set foot inside the center for an actual game as I have never done so. Time may not be on my side.

Hope your health improves. Sometimes life gives you lemons. Pray that you are able to make lemonade.

I wonder what is up with all the women's injuries. I don't know the exact issues of course since they are not typically disclosed these days, but wow the women have had injury problems.

For whatever reasons, we returned to our slo-mo offensive movement tonight....At
that (lack of) speed, every pass seemed contested, and very few open shots were
generated....AP played an okay game, but really didn't have any open receivers for
potential passes that would lead to assists...

Our rebounding efforts weren't up to that in our recent games....Selebangue gave a
good effort on the boards, but Cincy was really keying on him on the offensive end...
That's not the last time we will see that.....With Griffin's shooting only being so-so
lately, we don't have many offensive alternatives that might open up the inside
game....

To win, you need to generate at least four good stat lines....At least four players
playing well and generating positive stats on both ends....We are having trouble
generating more than two at the moment...

True...Tulane and Memphis are good, but only Houston excels...Next year will be without
Houston, Cincy & UCF....The conference may actually be more fun and highly contested
down to the finish....We will see a lot of players we haven't seen before.....

Basketball is played inside - out and when there is no scoring threat on the
block Cincinnati guards are swarming the ball outside . Bad JuJu for TU.
