A salute is over in a few seconds, but a polymer can last a long time in a landfill.

I've always found it a bit self serving for "some" of the presidents to hand salute TBH. I had nothing against Reagan, GHWB or GWB to do the hand salute because they gave military service to the country. But some did not like Clinton and Obama. They should just nod their head or even touch their heart with the right hand as a way to honor those in the service. Some have earned that hand salute, others haven't and are caught up being self "serving" now that it makes them look good.

A flag burner and a community agitator don't seem to engender much patiotism.
