Doubtful if Obama called Halliburton to arrange the event. So it's another example of how deep pockets gain access and drive US politics. It should be disturbing to everyone who wishes to preserve our democracy. Not a partisan issue.

To the extent it is a partisan issue, then would anyone have bothered to comment if either President Bush had played golf with this group?

Funny.. I seem to remember you and east having conniption fits over Cheney and Halliburton's influence in the Bush Administration..

And yes... I do find it disturbing that our Empereor commandeered AF1 to fly to Florida to golf with big money donors.. and I would have found it equally disturbing if other Royal Families had done the same..

And you found it disturbing enough to come up and defend the Emperor.. after all.. He just happened to walk into the Floridian pro shop, pay his green fees, bump into its big oil owner, and get invited to make it a foursome with a Halliburton Exec and the Owner of the Celtics... otherwise he was gonna play a solitary round and work on his short game like any weekend duffer would do on his local muni..

Don't be too hard or he/her/them will leave the board again. But it is interesting to see why someone 1,500 miles away feels it is somehow important to politically lecture a group of people they have nothing in common with on how their world works and is viewed by he/her/them.
