One good thing about it if you have a good seed is likely chance to play some programs at home we wouldn't normally get to see.

Trying to see potential positives if we indeed get left out.

12 NIT autobids this year. LaTech, Murray State, Iona, Central Michigan, UC Davis are top 80 RPI. So we'll probably host one of the following in the first round:

Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Montana, NC Central, St. Francis NY, South Dakota St., William and Mary

With Wyoming stealing a bid, more than likely Miami is out.

The Top 4 NIT seeds will probably be..........

UCLA, Texas A&M, Miami (FL), TU

If i'm not mistaken, the NCAA now runs the NIT and it closely mirrors the Big Dance in format. I believe the Top 4 seeds play at home until the tourney reaches the semi's and shifts to MSG. No more of those made for TV matchups.

Ironically, both of TU's NIT Championships were delivered by Head Coaches in their first year at TU, leading teams that just missed out on the NCAA tournament.

agree, it looks like TU is no longer one of the last 4 out, so no automatic #1 seed in the NIT.

So does bracket matrix. Really
trying to get enthused for NIT
but happening yet. Hopefully there will
be a team in TU's bracket that sparks
interest.

Somehow missed that the NIT will experiment with a 30 second shot clock and extending the restricted area out another foot.

I'm glad it is not trying to get Emory Turner our AD on the phone to see if TU would accept a bid. And the seeing if UNT would come up and play us. Those old NIT's were hand picked. We were lucky in 1980-191 to get three home games since other facilities were busy. ORU even gave us the Mabee Cenyer for one game. In 2001 we sqeeked out road wins at Minnesota and Alabama ? Or some SEC school with miracle game. No standardized seeding then.

I really like the bracket we drew. I don't see any teams that we don't match up well with. We still have to play well, but if we play with chip on our shoulder no reason we shouldn't make it to MSG.

Murray State or UTEP would be really tough but home game. When we won in 2001 we were not mentally ready for first round till after halftime. Still down mentally till then.

Well, if we make it to NYC I'll do my best to be there.

Go get 'em guys! Win the NIT and show those Power 5 loving jerks that you deserve more RESPECT!

GO TU!!!

Murray State and UTEP are two really good teams. MS went 16-0 in the conference and that is not easy. UTEP is usually a physically tough team who we have problems matching up with. But I love the home advantage if we get past WAMU.

If we play Illinois St, that will mean we have them in the Don and will have already won 2 games in the NIT. I'll take that - a third game on campus for a chance to go to NYC.

II you seem to have seen Murray State and UTEP this year. How do they compare to teams like Memphis and Temple? What teams on our schedule are they most like?

Also need to track down a bit of info on William and Mary.

From what I saw of them in the OVC, Murray State is like Tulane with a better PG. I haven't seen UTEP this year but I can't imagine they are much different than UTEP last year who we beat twice.

Murray State is 27-5 and 4 of those losses were before January like us and they had some injuries then. Won 25 straight then until upset by Belmont at buzzer. Have four starters that shoot over 37% from the three... Lost early to Houston, Xavier and Valpo. One of highest scoring teams in NCAA at 79.1 ppg.

Haven't seen UTEP and don't want to see them and their academic eligibility ? team.

I saw the Washburn kid is at TCU now so that is a loss for them. Unless UTEP/Murray St has serious inside AND outside scoring threats I think we match up well if we can shoot at least 35%.

Once again, down to win one at a time. W&M very doable.

Hopefully the team is more excited
about this game than I am. We will
be there but won't be shocked if the
team gives an OUSEu effort to end
the season. Blah

When will they release brackets for the WNIT? Hope we have a home game.

WNIT brackets are scheduled to be released at 10:30 Central. The field of 64 teams has been released. Tulsa was an auto quality from the AAC as the highest finishing team not in the NCAA tourney. Temple and East Carolina also made the field from the AAC. UCONN (#1 overall), USF, and Tulane (who TU beat and finished in front of in the AAC standings) made the NCAA field.

I think that sells them short. I'd say Murray State is like Wichita State if the Shockers forgot how to play defense. I'd put Cameron Payne toe-to-toe with VanVleet.
