I totally agree. He would have been worth at least 2-3 more wins each year. I remember watching the OSU game and thinking Magnay is going to be a stud. He worked the pick n roll with Taplin very well and played great defense. He was strong and quick and I was thinking if he could develop a 10-foot shot, he’d be really tough. I understand he developed that and even a 3-point shot in Australia.
Here is a quite from Brad Underwood on Magnay after the game:
“I told my team this: Magnay, I love. That young man is going to be a tremendous basketball player. He won't be a freshman in three or four weeks. He is a double-double guy and he is very good.”
I believe he led the team in blocks that year, even with sharing time with Igbanu. A defensive presence in the paint is something we haven’t had since.
