Montgomery videos while at Baylor

Thanks for the videos DT. I really like his drive. You can feel an underlying sense of urgency coming through the videos. I think our current & future players are going to like our new coach !

You guys have no idea. If you see what Dino Babers is doing in his first few years and he was a WR coach with Monty the OC the entire time.

QBs - Big arm, good mobility
RBs - all types
WRs - speed, speed, speed
TEs - third OT types
OL - monsters in terms of being able to move defenders out of the way

We need some defensive help, also.

We will obviously need to recruit more talent, but I really think we have some young offensive players with some ability that will really have a chance to shine with Montgomery as coach. Lucas, Louie, Brewer, Hobbs, Ivery & Umblance, just to name a few.

It is obvious from the videos that Montgomery has a game plan & he has a high attention to detail. He also understands disguising plays, something I think is underutilized in college football.

He appears to be a coach that would be fun to play for, with an exciting brand of football. I think good recruits will follow.

Chad had a great year here too. Rescued Todd Graham and got him a nice raise.

Don't worry. Baylor is too stupid to hire Monty. We run in ignorance these days. Eat our own.

Does Tulsa have 25 scholarships to give this season or less?
Around 21 give or take. It's a fairly light senior class. Of any consequence we're losing our QB, one or two star receivers, 2 DTs, and 3 LBs. We have enough young talent behind most of those players, that it will only hurt seriously in a few places. Little to no losses at RB or OL and little to no losses at DE or DB.

As long as we can find a good talent in one of our QB's next season we should be as good or better. We are losing a lot at LB but we have, as I said earlier, lots of young talent there. And Montgomery is working on a couple of Juco LBs to go with our present recruits. They'll obviously have a shot at immediate playing time.

How's that for a short answer?

I am glad you signed 4 big OL last season because it is a down year in Texas at least. I wonder if they are going to keep the Abilene kid at TE for a few years. As good as he has been he is still playing without his type of recruits but you see those coming on to the roster. It is fun to watch. He is a good guy.

I can't wait to see how the offense evolves with President's talent. I assume we'll see a good deal zone option runs.

Dane's ability to throw down field made the ground game such as success, If President can develope that threat + his ability to run, man-o-man.

Speaking of President. Did he play too much to receive a medical redshirt?

No. He was hurt in game 1 and I believe he was granted a RS for this year already.

Chadwick thought it would be between President and Skipper.

I'll take Chadwick's slant, but I don't get why Chadwick doesn't give Rubley a shot.

No matter who the starter is he will be a good QB. Trust me. He will be able to make all the throws.

Agreed and if the person wasn't on campus already I think you'd see TU pursuing a transfer or a JUCO kid hard.

I'd like to trust you D T, but from what I've seen so far, QB is a major cause for concern. We all know what happens to a QB who likes to run it-eventually on the shelf, all dinged up. My hope is that Hefley or Skipper, after much schooling by Coach Monty, can fling it half as good as the guy we're losing this year. Use President(who may improve throwing it) in the wildcat as before. I don't know, it's just worrisome.

There was a QB who followed Paul Smith and had a tremendous year. I predict Rubley will have that kind of year next year.

Some people in the program have spoken very highly of Skipper. It's not often that a kid you're red shirting that's third on the depth chart at best is traveling to away games. But he has been. Might say something.
