Houston thread

Tulsa is fighting for the ball which is exactly what we need. If we have to play all 10 guys we need to do everything we can to get every loose ball.

Igbanu is getting quick doubled and Sampson knows Igbanu doesn’t know where the double is coming from so he doesn’t know where the open man is. Killing us,

Bad call there, that should have been a tie up. We’re in the bonus, we need to drive it every possession where it should be a basket or free throws.

We're playing decent, but I'd like to see us play a defense that doesn't intentionally give up the 3 to good shooters. The sole reason we're losing is we've chosen to give them 3s and they are 7 for 16 already.

Solid half. Offensively we played well. On defense we need to do a better job of fighting over screens and closing out 3’s.

I'm finding it harder to be interested in watching the game, the Cincinnati blowout still hurts. But... several of the players are playing hard today and keeping us in it.

I think this team will be better next year, might have peaked on learning potential this year.

Well, we’re only down three at half but I’m disappointed we kept pumping it up from deep when we were in the bonus. If we had driven the ball, like Rachal did we would probably have the lead.

Typical end of the half production. Could have been a lot worse first half. Especially considering just how poorly Martins is playing. He’s a one hit wonder and people have figured him out.

Mills is one of the best three point shooters around and we were slow to understand that. Houston cannot score inside so stay out on the shooters.

That’s the fallout of Haith’s zone D. It’s just gonna give up wide 3’s.

If good teams make them, we lose.

With the roster TU has, it’s probably the only way to beat Houston. They have some really nice pieces, and definitely play with an edge.

Wow, two threes from Jackson. If this isn’t an anomaly and he’s found the range that could be big as the season progresses.

That shot is looking pretty
It’s really smooth and compact. The only criticism might be that it starts too low and if teams guard him closer it’ll be hard to get it off. There’s not a lot of wasted motion in it. Even the 1st couple he took were not far off, maybe a bit long. His first couple of years they were nowhere close to on line, there was a lot of sideways movement in his hand and elbow in the shot motion.

Proud of the guys the last few minutes. Down 8 we could have let them run away but we’ve fought back to lead.

Igbanu is worthless on the defensive glass, gets pushed to deep.

Say what you will, Calvin Simpson can coach but is also a grade A prick that represents so much of what is wrong with this sport. The bald official came over to tell him there was “absolutely nothing” wrong with the play he wanted a flagrant called on. But the refs do nothing to reign him in.

That was a good rebounding possession for Houston but even with all those offensive boards they only have 4 more rebounds than we do. We need to keep fighting for the ball.

Put in Ugboh. I don’t understand running the offense through Martens, who is always double teamed. Someone else is open.

Big problem with Jackson. Great defender athletic but when he's in perimeter it is 4 on 5.

Frustrating game to watch, so much of this looks like you can coach the kids out of the bad habits. Not sure of the practice time restrictions have and a positive impact or graduation rates, but the have definitely had a negative effect on the level of play.
