First time I’ve seen a 10 post game thread, with most of those being Liberty replying to himself.
It's pretty astounding how Konkol has twice now taken guards from other teams (first Cobe, now Odom) and put them in a worse situation than they were in previously in terms of their role / ability to contribute.
La Tech has absolutely upgraded their coaching as well. Goodness, this is bad. Our AD has to clean up Dicksons’s mess on both hires. I don’t see how we win more than 10 games this season
Man, I tried to tell folks that Dickson shouldn't be involved in coaching hires. Look at what he did to Tulane in football and Basketball in terms of bad coaching hires. We're just lucky that he was old enough to retire and not be involved in another search.
I'm just afraid that maybe it wasn't Dickson calling the shots in these instances (based on what we have heard about the Wilson hire) and it was someone(s) else, who are still around.
Usually ESPN does play by play even if you can't watch the video of the game. Nothing for this, just occasional score updates. Hard to comment much, and sad that we're paying a tournament that's too low to get ESPN play by play coverage.

I caught the last couple of minutes of the game, and these refs were horrible, to say the least. They should have called a technical foul on "Nutter" for swearing at the Tulsa bend and the radio announcers. Who on earth would try to come at Bruce Howard and his radio partner? Georgia State is classless.
What I can't understand is how Konkol was an average, to slightly above average, HC at LA Tech and has been absolutely horrendous at TU.
I've been kinda tuned out this season thus far. But wow, dougheffking admitting that Konkol is not the second coming of John Wooden.
It wasn't too terribly long ago that you labeled anyone who even questioned Konkol's ability as a coach an idiot who didn't know all the inside machinations and was just obliviously blind to the obvious big turnaround right around the corner.
Not gloating or saying "I told you so", I wasn't really sold either way on Konkol. I've always had my doubts, but was more than willing to give him at least this season.

Above average. 17-24 wins in 7 seasons, with an average of 22 wins per season. The season of 17 wins was the only season with less than 20 wins.

We are in deep trouble inside right now. Garcia will help some, but I am not too optimistic about this team. I've really turned around in my view from the first few games. We have been exposed.
Konkol just got through saying we're not gonna be picking up anybody off wavers, (on the postgame show) and we've got to make these guys better. No mention of Garcia.

Yeah, okay. But at least a few people have been saying that all along. Season 1 was a canary in a coal mine to a lot of people. Sure, inherited players and a mess of a program, and every other excuse in the book. I was willing to admit that it was possible that virtually nobody could have done better and we shouldn't crucify him yet. But alarm bells were ringing back then, pretty loudly. Some posters who know a lot more about basketball than I do soured on him pretty early and that was another warning sign to me.
So I was just wondering what finally set off those same alarm bells in your head.
But it doesn't matter, really. Welcome to the club of being disappointed with Konkol!
Not 100% on the criteria for that title, but you could make an argument that Manning is deserving of that

Is he planning a mid-season transfer? Boy, that would make me angry. He had better not sit on the bench for another game if so.
I'm not sure that any of his TU teams would beat any of his LA Tech teams. Maybe last year would have beaten one or two of them.
The passion with which people defended a 5 win coach blew me away. I said then and believe now that he was better off winning 5 than he would have been winning 10 in how people responded. 5 was so crazy that people just wrote the year off, like it had to be an aberration to be so bad. It made no sense at all.
I agree. Which is why it is so confusing. I can't imagine it is easier to recruit to LA Tech than it is to Tulsa.

That team was historically bad. The only good things were the pizza party world record and the free alcohol and appetizers in the foyer.
The free stuff is gone now btw.
