If only he had chose to play in Germany instead. What could have been............From all the experts where he fell short of being drafted was because........He played for Tulsa.
Or he could have played basketball only for Baylor and get drafted as a tight end by the Cowboys in the 6th round, like Rico Gathers. Incredible the Cowboys, who desperately need another receiver, had four sixth round picks, and didn't even draft a wide receiver in the entire draft.

He'll be better off with a team with a QB.Signed with Carolina. I'm shocked he didn't get drafted. After I heard so many experts say he could go in the 3rd. Wish the Jets would of gotten him
Carolina will be a good landing spot for Key. Newton likes to improvise and will throw some passes up there for Key to go and get. He'll be better off with a team with a QB.
I read somewhere that Carolina didn't draft any WRs so that's a plus for Key there and they didn't do much with the position in the offseason. Carolina has Benjamin coming back off of an ACL injury, Ted Ginn who is a sprinter more than a receiver, and a couple of other serviceable guys. If Key connects with Newton and they get on the same page, Key can be the dump off guy 30 yds down field. There was also something with concern over Key and his wunderlich...who knows. He's a freak. I figured he would be a late round pick because of his length, production and workout numbers but you just never know. The leg may have frightened people off.
The only knocks I've seen are poor route runner, which I agree with, and isn't very affective getting off the line against press. Which most long guys aren't.
The scheme related concerns, real or not, are that 91% of his plays last year were made in a slant, hitch, or go route and 95% of his snaps were played at the right WR position. So the argument, valid or not, is that he potentially wasnt a versatile enough guy.
Either way, he's 6'4 with a wingspan and 4.5 speed. He will get a legit shot to make a roster.
But their top WR (Benjamin) was hurt during training camp and missed the season. That's one of the reasons Olsen became the next best target. After those 2 though, Carolina lacks a reliable sure-handed #2 WR. The other guys were serviceable in a James Jones, Danny Amendola type of way but not anything like what Pittsburgh has (had...Martavis Bryant is an idiot).Carolina needs receivers, based on last season, their TE Olsen was their #1 yardage guy I believe. Good spot for Garrett, not impressed with Carolina's WR's.
I was skimmng through and saw "TE" and "Garrett" in the same post. Instantly brought back some good memories.Carolina needs receivers, based on last season, their TE Olsen was their #1 yardage guy I believe. Good spot for Garrett, not impressed with Carolina's WR's.
