Tough loss yesterday. Gaston Chapman will be out against Wichita State because of the Flagrant 2 and we might have lost Pritchard for the season unless it is a sprain. That means we might see more Ari Seals and some Urbancic in the next game or two.

Everyone including the staff are ready for this season to end. I had some conversations yesterday and there is frustration all around. The guys were still fighting their butt off though.

I finally got my computer working so I can post now. Smh.

There are three conference games only today. SMU and Houston are at half while I am typing this. All three games are on the ESPN cable networks.

TU women have 2 games left. Today they play Wichita State at the Reynolds Center.

Houston pulled away from SMU and won 75-61. This should solidify Houston with the regular season title and the number 1 seed in the conference tournament

TU wins 61-49. Maddie Bittle chosen player of game and announces she will return for a 5th year. If we can get some more size and a little more consistency shooting next year could be a very good season. W Mayberry double figures, Poindexter and Crawford each had 9. Lescay a Sr was in double figures and M Mayberry struggled a bit but still had 2 big 3s.

Memphis dismantled the shockers as well.

We should get another home win with Wichita coming here. They are getting worse each game it seems. Not sure we can beat UCF though.

I can see that, however if we could get two home wins going into the conference tournament that could give them the confidence to hopefully make a run

Temple Outlasted Tulane at home and won by 5. That loss to Temple drops Tulane out of the 4 spot down to the 6 spot and has them playing on Thursday against South Florida.

Houston has 3 games left. Cincinnati on March 1 at home, Temple on March 3 at home and then at Memphis on March 6. They only need to win 1 of those three to clinch the regular season title and the number 1 seed.

I took off from posting yesterday so I could prepare for the conference tourneys that start today. I am actually going to start another thread on just the conference tourneys and searching for those AQ’s Horizon and Patriot league start their tourneys this evening but more on that later.

Today we have 3 games.

Cincinnati and Houston is a makeup game from COVID. IF Houston wins this game they are the regular season champions. SMU will not be able to catch them.

Nevada visits Boise State tonight. Boise State is currently leading the Mountain West Conference by a game and a half in front of Colorado State with two games to be played. If Nevada wins then then it will put Boise State 1 game ahead of CSU with their matchup coming as the season finale on March 5th. Both of these teams should make the tourney so this could be a good watch on Saturday.

Air Force is playing in their last game of the season. With a 10-17 record they need to focus more on making sure the stealth bomber is flying.

I don’t know how well Lunardi reflects the committee but Lunardi loves Memphis. If Memphis makes it in and SMU doesn’t despite the better record and beating Memphis twice it would be a crime.

SMU's OOC schedule was basically a D1 school playing a bunch of HS teams. ESPN or whoever showed the Houston beatdown of SMU the other day focused on SMU's OOC SOS as being REALLY REALLY bad. While we all know Memphis is a farce and has an empty head big name head coach, they've won some big games and they do play a decent OOC schedule.

The biggest look is Memphis beat Alabama right after Alabama beat Houston. I believe this game will be the factor that gets Memphis in the tournament

Lunardi is covering his behind. Had Memphis rated high at the beginning of the season so he has a bias. Even worse than the Memphis bias is his Michigan bias, he had Michigan rated as a preseason #1 seed in his bracket, but after a very pedestrian season they are now an #11 seed I don't believe at any time did he ever not have Michigan in his projected bracket. It would be hilarious to me if Michigan were left out after being a preseason #1.

GO TU!!!

The "we hired a former player who was a star in college and the NBA" coaches are looking pretty bad now. Michigan is meh at best. They actually have looked terrible the last couple of times I've watched them play. Memphis has a ton of talent and the coach can't navigate his way out of a paper bag with a hole in the bottom. The worst is Georgetown. They are dreadful.

Side note: How old am I that Patrick Ewing is coaching Dikembe Mutombo's son at Georgetown?

Michigan lost to an average UCF team on the road in January by 14 points or something like that. They do not strike me as a Tourney team.

GO TU!!!!

Boise state has secured the regular season title in the mountain west with their win tonight.

Air Force also won their last game of the season.

Houston is going to beat Cincinnati by double figures and with that will have secured the regular season title in the American

If Memphis loses to Houston at home, they need to go to the NIT again. Memphis has the players, Houston has the grit.
