Welcome to Winning Wednesday!!! We got ourselves a late Christmas present by sending Houston Ho Ho Home with their first loss. This will be a Q1 Win for us once the rankings come out and it should stay that way as kitty can play well.

Covid alerts

Wichita State was supposed to have their AAC home opener against East Carolina today but Tuesday that game was rescheduled to February due to COVID cases and contact tracing on the pirates team. Wichita State found a replacement in Newman.

TCU was supposed to play Texas Southern today but Texas Southern cancelled the game due to COVID cases on their program. They got the cases before Christmas and had to cancel other games as well. TCU Monday got Prairie View A&M to fill that slot.

Reminder the NET rankings are due to be out on Monday!!!! We have one more game before they come out and that will be on Saturday at Cincinnati.

I guess we need Memphis and Houston to continue to do well as well as South Carolina and TCU.

Just noticed that we are South Carolina's only win of the season. That is a Q-4 loss I guess.

By the way it was probably a lucky thing we cancelled the Arkansas and ORU games when we did. We were not ready for either at that point and could have easily gone 0-2 with them.

They are still postponed as far as I know not canceled. You are correct I don’t think we were ready for them but I believe we are now

I was thinking about the NET last night. Here are my predictions for our NET record when it comes out.

Q1 - 1-0
Q2 - 1-2
Q3 - 1-1
Q4 - 0-0

the Q3s would be WSU and UTA, it’s possible that WSU could end up Q2 making us 1-3 and UTA could be Q4 making us 1-0. Lots of basketball to go.

There is still not a joint opening in our schedules to reschedule ORU or Arkansas. The chance that we both end up with a covid cancellation that matches up is slim for one team, the chances both happen is almost impossible. I'd be happy if we keep play at the present level and get a shot at Arky though.

(Not that I'm hoping an Arky opponent has an outbreak about the time we have Tulane or Temple scheduled and they have an outbreak too. That's only 4 targets on our schedule, can't be hoping for that.)

To be fair, they've only played 3 games. And one of those was against Houston, the other was against a decent liberty team.

The NET is less record dependent than the old rpi too, so them being in the SEC means they are probably a top 200 team if they lose every league game. Vandy was last place last year and 145

Tulane at UCF has been postponed due to Covid-19. No one is saying which team it is on but UCF still hasn’t suspended activities and is scheduled to play USF Saturday I believe.

Temple and Tulane got the axe as well, it wasn't Tulane though.

Word is UCF/Tulane may have been the refs who had to cancel it out. Tulane coach said they haven't had any positives.

The conference didnt say why when I last saw it but put no blame on anyone. The officiating crew having it sounds pretty legit to me.

There is only 1 game to start off this new year and that is in the Sunbelt. All of the other conferences are starting back up on Saturday.
