ITS GAME DAY!!!!!!!

Tulsa welcomes to the Reynolds Center, Longtime Foe in the Southern Illinois Salukis.

Southern Illinois comes in with a 5-3 record and 148 Net. They took an season opening loss to Yooler and also lost to Northeastern and to Creighton. Both of those was in the Paradise Jam. They did win the opener of that tournament by beating Colorado. With a 148 NET this will be a good win for us. We also need to get the 10 point spread on our wins so that we can get that boost. With us sitting at a 243 we need all the boost we can get. Smh

Yesterday Memphis lost by 2 at home to Murray State. They dropped 5 spots in the Ranking. Then you have Boise State who slaughtered Prairie View 97-60. They moved up 14 spots with that win and now that has moved them up to a Quad 1 loss for us. There were no other big movements in the quad standings.

Today we have a ton of games for your viewing pleasure. Also the Army Navy game is today. Go NAVY!!!

Some games of note. Northwestern State is looking for their first win of the season when taking on Dallas Christian College. Only reason it is of note is that they haven’t won a game. They have been close a couple times but have not reached the promised land.

Mississippi State (NET 55) is taking on Colorado State (NET 27) at Fort Worth in the Naismith Hall of Fame Classic. UMass (NET 139) is taking on North Texas (NET 103) in the other game of that Classic.

Houston (NET 3) travels to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama (NET 12)
Cincinnati (NET 40) travels to take on Xavier (NET 18)

Oregon State rescheduled their game today with Sacramento State for December 28th as there is a COVID-19 and Contact Tracing issue with the Oregon State Program.

Back in the 1980s to early 90s when we were in the Missouri Valley Conference with SIU, they usually had good teams. They & Illinois State were annoyingly hard to beat at times, especially in Illinois. Hopefully we can fare better against SIU than we have against Illinois State in recent years. With Tulsa being in a better conference with recruiting advantages and more money coming in, we SHOULD have no problem beating either team!

I’ll be there this again this afternoon, hoping to see rapid improvement in our team!

AS I predicted we did get into the 220’s. A couple more games like this and we will be looking ok. We do have a tough stretch coming up so Frank needs to get them ready.

Thursday we have Alcorn State at the Reynolds Center. Two days later we are playing 9-0 Colorado State at Fort Worth. Three days after that we have North Texas in Oklahoma City. We have 3 games in 6 days. This will be the end of our Non-Conference Schedule.

We start Conference play December 29th against SMU at home. We open our schedule pretty strong. Five of our first seven Conference games are against sub 100 opponents. Memphis twice, Houston, at UCF and at Cincinnati. The other two are SMU and Temple. SMU is not far behind that 100 mark. Temple took a hit yesterday losing to Saint Joes.

1. Boise State took a hit yesterday and moved down to a Q2 Loss
2. Tulsa up 15 spots
3. Temple dropped 31 spots. They lost to Saint Joes by 19 on the road. They didn’t hit their first 4. 3 pointer until there were just under 6 minutes left in the game. Sad really
5. Utah up 14 again
6. Boise down 13
7. Southern Illinois dropped 21

I do want to make a correction from yesterday Northwestern State has won 2 games. None of them are to D1 opponents.

The ladies are undefeated and are currently holding an 84 NET. The problem is who they have played.

They haven’t played anyone decent and a couple of these games were really close. The rest of the non-conference schedule is with sub 200 NET teams except for Oklahoma state.

I am proud that they have a better record than they have previously, but if they get blown out by Oklahoma state or lose any other non-conference game they will plummet. That said to maintain they will need todo well in conference. They play Houston twice but they luckily only get South Florida and UCF once and they are both on the road.

TU Womens team manhandled Central Arkansas yesterday to go 8-0. I hope they continue their winning ways and get better as a unit before they play OSU, UCF, Houston and South Florida who have really good teams for the women's side.

I don't believe in being that politically correct, and if you do, then you should have a problem with the use of the moniker of Braves. I'm not stupid because I used the word injuns. You could 'arguably' call me insensitive, but not dumb. You should be careful arguing with an Oklahoman about this issue, my father is 1/4 Cherokee.

I don't agree with a lot of renaming for racial reasons. It doesn't change anything. For instance I find it ludicrous to change The Old Lady On Brady to the generic soul less name of Tulsa Theater. Nobody associates Old Lady On Brady with long dead Brady's racist actions.

But if you want to continue this discussion, it needs to be on the Crossfire Board.

I think if someone says something offensive and degrading about others, it's fair to call them out for it wherever they said it. If I called someone a p#%%y, would we say "too bad, get upset about it on Crossfire"? Of course not. "Take it to crossfire" is just a weak a$$ way for the person to avoid getting called out. Basically, anything he wants to say is fine and anything that someone else objects to magically becomes "political" so belongs on Crossfire. Super weak.
