Games of Interest (12.10.22 - 12.15.22) Central Michigan University

Last night Wichita State beat MVS 71-48. They visit us this weekend. Houston laid waster to North Carolina A&T 74-46. Alabama who beat Houston edged out Memphis as well 91-88 and Murray State edged out Chicago State 66-65.

Not a lot of movement in the NET.

Todays games

Miami of Ohio travels to Cincinnati and UCF travels to Ole Miss.

And One

There have been a lot of lives lost here recently with Mike Leach yesterday. Christine McVie and Irene Cara after thanksgiving. All of these are Celebrities and these lives were lost and families affected during the holidays. There are plenty of other lives and families that have been affected by loss during the holidays including mine as one of my aunts passed away right after thanksgiving. Today a famous dancer took his own life. He was known as Twitch and was on So you Think You can dance and was the DJ for Ellen Degeneres. I bring this up because mental health is a real thing that people do struggle with especially during the holiday season. In 2019 there were 45,861 Adult Suicides in the US. 6,261 were US Veterans. IF you know people that are in a crisis there is a hot line number that has been shortened to 988. Lets try to make sure that others see the new year.

Last night Cincinnati went over the century mark defeating Miami of Ohio 103-76

UCF also went to Ole Miss and beat them 72-61

In other games, FAU beat an NAIA team by 20 and UAB beat a struggling South Carolina team 84-70.

Todays games

Today is not a big basketball day across the landscape. Only 14 games are being played and I am tracking 2 of them. There are no barn burners on any of these games.

North American University, an NAIA school who has been getting whipped by everyone they play, travel to play Rice. This should be a crime scene.

Best game of the day will be Oregon state hosting Seattle tonight.

And One

Bowl Season is upon us and in two years Tulsa will have a better shot at making the Playoff as the G5 get a bid to the playoff. They will probably be playing the 3 seed as the first two seeds get a bye. Anything can happen on any given Saturday. Tulsa’s new Head Coach will be coaching in the CFP this year on December 31st at 7 p.m. I am sure it will be talked about that he has another job and it is Tulsa. Bowl games start tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and looks like the first game will be UAB (AAC member next year) against Miami of Ohio in the Bahamas bowl. Join the group on ESPN with your picks. I have made a separate post about it.

GO TU!!!

Georgetown is terrible. Not sure how long Patrick Ewing lasts there. Boston College is pretty bad. Louisville is easily the worst team I've seen play basketball this season...and I've caught a few of their games (at least the 10-15 minutes I've watched) and it's not good. And this is the fallout from the Pitino/Jurich crap and the adidas investigation and charges. It will be 2-3 years before they come close to even being a top 12 team in the ACC. Minnesota is the team I'm surprised by being this low.

Sounds like Leach passed away when the ten minutes went by. It was just a waiting game until he 'officially' passed.
It was reported today that Mike Leach, The Head Football Coach at Mississippi State, had a heart attack and passed away. It was reported by several sites that he was down for about 10 minutes without aid, then they used the defibrillator and got a rhythm for his heart. Apparently, there was Brian damage done during that point. I am not a medical professional so I don’t know what the stats are for response, brain damage and such. I don’t know the guy personally and never met him but this saddens me a lot because he has been such a big figure to all that follow college football closely with his personality.

RIP Coach.
Sad. It's about 6 minutes without oxygen to the brain before irreversible damage is done. There's a reason why CPR has changed from breaths and chest compressions to just chest compressions as the blood carries enough oxygen to be able to sustain someone but you obviously need to get the blood circulating. In a heart attack like Leach's, it's usually the arteries supplying the heart muscle with oxygen that stops the muscle from pumping and circulating blood. If the damage to the brain is extensive enough, then even the brain stem activity that controls a lot of your involuntary activities like breathing, heart contractions, etc. ceases and cannot happen on their own. I'm speculating, but there were probably artificial means used to keep his heart pumping and him breathing to see if any independent brain function could be regained.

I always enjoyed his passion for the game and his aloof goofiness with the press.

Rice beat North American University 92-54. One more game tonight.

Tulsa Men and Women both play tomorrow.
