ITS GAMEDAY!!!

Last night the Tulsa Women took a loss to USF that they could have won. They moved up 3 spots in the rankings to 84 and USF dropped 2 spots to 41. Two of the ladies losses are within 5 points. The only blowout and it was a blowout was to a Houston team that got smacked hard by 15 points at home to Cincinnati. The ladies have not been able to beat a decently ranked team yet, except for Memphis, which they barely won. They still face UCF in the regular season finale. The rest of the teams in the conference are a lower raking then they are. They are still 12-3 though so good job.

The Men travel to Cincinnati tonight to take on the Bearcats at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. This si good so some don’t have to struggle with the ESPN+ thing lol. This team has just not found a way to close out games. If we had then this would be a different conversation. Lets get ourselves a road win this evening. Cincinnati is coming off a two game winning streak beating ECU at home and then Wichita State in the roundhouse. Wichita State and Tulsa are the only two teams in conference to not have won a conference game.

The only other game of note is SMU traveling to play Memphis who has dropped two in a row with a 10 point loss to UCF and then allowing ECU to come from 19 points down to win by 1 at the buzzer. That was an exciting game.

And 1

You would expect a Tulsa team that has a 12-3 record right now should be a shoo-in for an at large spot for the NCAA tourney. In the latest Bracketology projections, this Tulsa squad is not on it, not even on the bubble. The First Four Out are Boston College (47 NET) 12-5, USC (61 NET) 9-5, UMass (50 NET) 14-4 and Gonzaga (33 NET) 12-4. All of these teams records are worse than Tulsa’s. The difference is who they have played. Now that said the list was updated 5 days ago but what has Tulsa done in that time? Lost to a USF team that has been falling out of the rankings.

I am pulling for the ladies to win their games but they need to start winning more convincingly and efficiently and not get blown out by 13 points to a 9-9 Houston team. Right now USF and UCF both have spots in the bracketology. UCF at a 10 seed with the AQ and USF in the 6 seed as an at large.

The scheduling has benefitted them on getting confidence and a good record but in terms of an at large bid...the schedule is hurting them.

GO TU!!!!

Man I feel so dejected after the loss last night. There are no games tonight. Tulsa Men play on Sunday against Memphis. The Tulsa women were supposed to play tomorrow, but there is a pause due to COVID with SMU. Their next game is with Memphis on Wednesday.

And 1

The new bracketology has come out for the Women’s side and Tulsa is still not on it. They are not even mentioned as a bubble team. The ladies are going to have to kill their schedule just to have a shot. This starts with Beating Memphis on Wednesday and then following up with Cincinnati and then a rematch against Houston at the Reynolds Center.

Enjoyed watching Penny’s rant on national sports news yesterday. Discipline my man. Cmon.

I know our schedule is done for any type of at large but we still have some good basketball to watch. For those that are pessimistic, your day is coming! Feb 1 is when the two teams that seem to not be able to win a conference game play each other. Who will win a game first? Tulsa or Wichita State. Lol.

Today the ladies were supposed to play but that game has been postponed due to COVID with SMU. Apparently, it is going around both the Men’s and Women’s programs. I say that as Wichita State’s game with SMU tomorrow has been postponed as well.

I am looking forward to the East Carolina (Ego Killers) traveling to Houston to face the #10 Cougars who are due for a let down.

Utah is also hosting #16 USC this afternoon as well.

There have been two games postponed. Temple and South Florida due to COVID with the Bulls program. Washington State at Oregon State due to COVID on the Cougars Program

And 1

My posts have been getting later in the day than normal as I am fighting off COVID. I have finished my “quarantine” period and am still recovering. I only put this out there, not for sympathy (wife wont give me that either cause she is hateful), to say I feel for these teams that have to shut down due to COVID and then try to come out and put out at an elite level, or what some of us feel is an “elite” level. Hopefully one day this mess will be just that a mess in the rearview mirror. So just take it easy on these guys.

GO TU!!!!

Thanks for keeping us updated with all the stats, and hope you are feeling better. Also, thanks for helping us keep some perspective during this ongoing pandemic and what teams are going through with preparation and rescheduling.

TU women are #84 in the latest NET. Still plenty of time and opportunities left but we’re likely about 30 spots out of the tourney as of today. Probably borderline NIT

No problem. If I had shifted early enough I would have started a COVID tracker. The conferences were dead set on having forfeits, then most did an about face. The only thing that did with me is put me into a little bit of an extra look. Lol. I have figured out how to make it faster as I go lol.
Thanks for the well wishes as I most definitely appreciate it. It’s kicking me hard some days.

Thanks for pulling that up and posting it. If you notice this team doesn’t trend up or down very far. They have opportunities to move up but they are going to have to do better in conference. I would say “well it’s USF”. Could have seen that coming but getting railed by a Houston team? The Bracketology for the women comes out every Friday. I hope they run the conference.
