UCONN Huskies (1-7) at Tulsa Golden Hurricane (1-7)

College Football: Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm (Chapman Stadium)
The Line: Tulsa Golden Hurricane -18.5
TV: CBSNN

The UConn Huskies and Tulsa Golden Hurricane meet Saturday in college football action at Chapman Stadium.

The UConn Huskies look for their first road victory of the season to rebound from a brutal 1-7 record. The UConn Huskies have lost each of their last six road games. David Pindell is completing 60 percent of his passes for 1,270 yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. Pindell and Marvin Washington have combined for 10 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions this season. Aaron McLean and Kyle Buss have combined for 558 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Hergy Mayala has 28 receptions. The UConn Huskies ground game is averaging 196.2 yards per contest, and Pindell leads the way with 784 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, UConn is allowing 47.8 points and 625.5 yards per game. Tyler Coyle leads the UConn Huskies with 74 tackles, Darrian Beavers has three sacks and Oneil Robinson has one interception.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane could also use a feel good victory that would snap a rough seven-game losing streak. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have lost seven of their last nine home games. Luke Skipper is completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 716 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions. Skipper and Seth Boomer have combined for seven touchdown passes and eight interceptions this season. Keylon Stokes and Keenen Johnson have combined for 658 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Justin Hobbs has 25 receptions. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane ground game is averaging 190.2 yards per contest, and Shamari Brooks leads the way with 623 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, Tulsa is allowing 28.5 points and 390.3 yards per game. Cooper Edmiston leads the Tulsa Golden Hurricane with 75 tackles, Zaven Collins has 1.5 sacks and McKinley Whitfield has one interception.

The Huskies are 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 road games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in November and 15-40-2 ATS in their last 57 games overall. The Golden Hurricane are 7-18-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The under is 14-3 in Golden Hurricane last 17 games overall and the under is 4-1 in Huskies last 5 games overall.

The UConn Huskies have actually lost their last two games by one score, so while the defense is still the worst in college football and they've been god awful ATS over the years, there's been progress recently. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have lost seven straight, and while a lot of those games came either against ranked teams or on the road, they just lost to Tulane at home as a favorite. The UConn Huskies have failed to cover 14 of their last 20 games as a double-digit underdog. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have covered four of their last six games when a double-digit favorite. I don't want to back UConn as much as the next guy, but I can't bring myself to lay more than two touchdowns with a team that's lost seven straight and just lost a winnable game last week. I'll take my chances that UConn hangs close for a third straight week.
