***Thought it would be interesting to post this thread at this later point in the season.

1. Kelly found the way to stop Tulsa...... the box and one completely took Juice out of the game and he simply watched from the wing. Reminds me of how Doc Sadler found out we could only go 3 against 5 in that infamous Nebraska game and every team after that used the same defense.

2. Creighton had deadly three point shooters so our game plan was to not sag off them and it worked to perfection. SE OK has the same type team with only 3 point shooters but this time we sagged off and gave them 12-15 open looks and they made 10. Only one was really contested.

3. The sagging off three point shooters and the delay in full court pressing were the only errors I say from Haith. The kids just seemed confused with the box and one .

4. Nice game plan by the Savage Storm. It really showed how athletes sometimes struggle with skilled basketball players who can shoot even if they are physically outmanned .

5. We were saved from the most humiliating defeat of the night by our friends the Nebraska Cornhuskers losing to Incarnate Word in Omaha 74-73... But P.S. We play Incarnate Word later this month.

With the way we played tonight the only post season play that TU will see will be on ESPN...

On the post game, Haith took full blame for the team's effort tonight. I'm glad he didn't start throwing players under the bus and he's right.

But the guys on the team need to take a good, hard look at the way they played tonight. I hope it really pisses them off.

We aren't good enough to take ANYONE for granted. Let's hope they play like the did against Creighton on Saturday.

All true....As we discussed in LV, if Wright and Smith don't come to play,
we are in deep doo-doo...The trouble is, we have very little to replace them
with......That's why I'm still shocked that we have signed two non-bigs for
2015, with no help for the inside.....

***Without further 2015 recruiting, we will have no returning 'big' for the
2016 season (and sadly it seems, not an effective one for 2015)..save
for Edogi (if he is still here-he needs a ton of development to be useable),
and Dew, who is not an inside player.....

With a guard and a wing joining the team, (and two on the present squad
leaving), we will be no better off next season than this.....Ray, Juice, and
Harrison have pretty well reached their max, and if somewhat incrementally
improved next year, it will make little difference if we do not have an inside
game to go with them.....I cannot believe that Wright, Smith (who both seem
to be regressing), and Swanny (limited but courageous) can provide the
inside game we will need to be competitive.....I'm having trouble
remembering a game this year, when a pass to the post resulted in a pass
back out to an open shooter more than one time in the game.....In fact, I'm
having trouble remembering that one time.....(but I'm sure it has happened..

In defense of Haith, he inherited a full squad, but maybe less than a hand
full of complete players, all underclassmen with no scholarships available...
Still, the need for some power up front is so obvious, that if he doesn't take
steps to correct it, then the fault shifts to him....

With 3 good guards, and not too much else you can count on, you can be
beat by almost anyone.....Tonight doesn't shock me......

The future scares me....With no improvement in our wretched inside game
in sight, and no scholarships available to resolve the problem, I do not
see a very bright future for our program.......Haith's first three years may
be his undoing, unless he can get an inside game to help his perimeter
players......

Too negative?? Maybe, but where is the solution coming from? From our
current squad?? Not realistic.....From our two recruits? No.....From where
then?????? You tell me....

P.S.
At some point, we will need to acknowledge what the capacities of Smith
and Wright really are.....With their present level of effort and involvement,
You have to feel that their results tell the whole story.....As Parcells would
have said, "they are who they are"......

If sometime in the future, they change their attitudes about the team and
themselves, we may see different results......I hope it is soon.....2 1/2 Yrs.
in, I don't see any progress in that regard.....

The difference right now is manning new how to use each of his players in varying situations to get the most out of them, So they excelled which they did. haith plays the same 5-6 for 30+ a game and doesn't use different combination's to excel against different defenses. If you keep doing the same thing you get the same result. Also we don't really play a team game. The Jrs are more worried about out doing each other that's why assists are low and there's virtually no kick outs.

He played 11 guys in the first half. I think you are related to Repi in some way. A lot of the complaining seems to be geared toward him not playing that much. He was big Sunday, but he shot an air ball and a brick last night. I would have liked to see Haith go back to him second half, but we didn't lose because of the rotation. We lost because we played terrible defense and waited too long to get into a press. They shot 50 percent from the field. The shot defense was terrible.

We aren't getting anything from the inside guys. Smith isn't aggressive to the rim. He appears to be avoiding contact to avoid getting fouled. Smith has been one of our two best and most consistent players until this year. I think we need to post him up more. I do not understand why Haith hasn't figured that out yet. Wright can stretch the defense, but he's terrible back-to-basket. Smith can score over either shoulder, we need to get him the ball where he can use his jump hook.

I didn't see the game but when looking at the stats I noticed we shot more 3's than SE and rebounds were nearly even. I understand, we were probably firing up 3's towards the end but a D-1 team shouldn't take more 3's than a D-2..........pound it inside.

We just got the s@!t kicked out of us by a Division II team... we honestly had no solution to there box and 1 and we did not start full pressing until the 8 min mark of the second half..sorry folks that's really bad coaching. Honestly this game was not near as close as the score indicates we are in very serious trouble!

I don't care how bad our coaching is, a group of juniors who've been together as long as they have shouldn't allow this result to happen. I have to question their testicular fortitude.

Well they really didn't have any direction. Looked like they didn't even scout SEOK. They should have overwhelmed them in the first half, pressured them into 20 turnovers and the game would have been a route. This "the score wasn't as close as it indicates" is just not accurate. The score indicates us outscoring SEOK by 16 in the final six minutes.

There's a lot of hyperbole here. It's on Haith and the staff. The adjustments weren't there until it was too late. They didn't know how to attack what was a T-and-1 and at times a diamond-and-1. It wasn't a box-and-1. The T is basically three rim protectors at the back, which is what they did throughout the second half.

I know I'm going to get torn to pieces for saying this but here we go. Why do you think Haith left a bigger school with more resources to come to Tulsa, because all of Mike Anderson's players were gone, Haith was on his own and knew he was going to get canned at Mizzou. Haith will be just like Blakenship. I learned everything I needed to know about Haith after watching him act like he was going to attack Mike Anderson in the middle of a game. I was extremely disappointed with the Haith hire.He also looks like Carlton from the Fresh Prince.

Agree with Li'l Coley. We have a big group of juniors, none of which have shown leadership qualities. I didn't see the game, but Juice is our best player and should be our leader. He has started since a Freshman, needs to start playing like a man. Time for him, and the rest of the juniors to grow up. Haith took the blame, but this is all on the players.

You can't take games off in this day and age. Creighton's not great, but they were a superior team to South Dakota Tuesday night. South Dakota played with heart, and took Creighton to 2 OT's before falling.

We had one guy who played to win and that was Shaq. He left it all out there on the floor, but he needed some help.

+1 I noticed that too. He and Ray seemed like the only two guys that realized TU need to pick up its intensity.

GO TU!!!!

The biggest difference is we've found consistency with Juice, Shaq has been consistent every night, and Smitty has found his stride. That's three really nice pieces. We need Curtis to get his game going again.
