So from what I can tell the AAC gets an extra $1.7 mil from TU being in the tournament (plus $1.7 mil more for each game we win). How much of that funnels down to TU? Do we get any bonus from the conference for making the tourney?

Being in a 4-bid conference is a big boon as far as basketball revenue. Anyone know what percentage of our overall athletic budget NCAA tourney revenue represents?

Per our conference board, all teams share equally in NCAA tourney revenue. The 1.7 mil. is paid out over a 6 year period. So, TU will make approx. $618,000 ($6,800,000/ 11 teams) over the next 6 years, just by these 4 invites. It was very good financially for our conference to get 4 teams in.

Each win by any of the 4 AAC teams (Tulsa, UCONN, Cincy & Temple) will be worth an additional $155,000 (total) for Tulsa over the next 6 years. So financially, we should be rooting for all AAC teams, even Cincinnati!

Seems like all the 16 seeds would really want to be the ones chosen to play in the First Four games. A winnable game against another 16 seed which leads to an extra $1.7 mil if you win... For some of those small conferences that's got to be a huge boon financially.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Would a win tonight still be worth full value?

BTW, Per knowledgeable SMU fan on the conference board, SMU does NOT get any $$ from this year's NCAA tournament. So, Tulsa receives 1/10 of all AAC money earned from this year's tournament. That means that every AAC win equals an additional $170,000 for TU, paid out over the next 6 years (approx. $28,333 per year per AAC win).

So root for Temple to beat Iowa & Cinci to beat St. Joes today, & UCONN to beat KU tomorrow. (I'm sure Phoggy will !).

We just loss $28,333 with Cincy losing.

Who pays for travel, lodging and meal expenses of the team, band, cheer, etc...for tourney games?
