Just listened to Kelly Hines "expert analysis" on the TU/SMU game. Basically said that the fans wore white, it was loud, Bush was there, and If Juice hadn't gone for 30 the game would not have been close. Really? I wish this OSU clown would go back to writing about Stillwater fashion instead of TU basketball! She isn't worthy to even touch Eric Bailey's laptop. Another reason why I hate the Tulsa World because of idiots like her!

OSU fans were doing backflips the day she was taken off that beat. She's a non-sports fan trying to be a sports writer. It doesn't work.

I am worn out with KH...

She is the female equivalent of Scoop...

I read that for the first time recently and it made total sense.
I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but she just doesn't know anything. Her writing is bland and lacks insight. She doesn't know what to ask Haith in interviews, and her simpleton analysis of the SMU game here is insulting to TU. If TU had made its layups, it would have had a great chance to steal that game. It came down to missed bunnies and turnovers.

Reassign her to Scene and hire a good writer that knows their sh!t. The sports section makes a fact error every week now. Every week they misspell a name, screw up a stat, misidentify one of our players... Enough already. Fire the Sports Editor and create turnover on that staff.

Bailey is amazing. But he's got a great gig covering OU. If he wasn't a Tulsa dude, he could work for a top paper in this country.

They but their other really good writer, Tramel, on Scene. Bring back Jimmie!!!!

1. She doesn't seem to have a friendly personality.
2. I don't think she particularly cares for TU...
3. IF she had excellent insight, it wouldn't matter that she isn't overly fond of TU. However, her lack of detailed analyses magnifies her ambivalence to TU.

Overall...for TU fans...not pleasant!

JT is really good and had the TU beat at one time. KH tries but it would be like me trying to write an article on a cricket match and not know how to ask the right questions. Good journalist but you have to have some real insight to the topic you are covering.

Agreed. Jimmie likes TU, and they don't come any better than Jimmie T. Hines is clearly not trying to be callous but she is as a result of just knowing nothing. She points to obvious facts and argues them in the negative A LOT. That's, as my grandma would say, is "poor".

Just unfollowed the TU beat writer on Twiter! As a TU super fan that's worse than unsubscribing to the paper in my world. She's dead to me. Bye.

Been defending Kelly and sensitive
that the criticism was borderline
sexist. Now ready for a change and worried
that Peters who only cares about OU OSU
assigned Kelly to TU to throw her under the
bus. The World has written is off.

Yep.

Tired of Peters not giving a crap and being a condescending jerk in replies to polite emails.
I've appreciated Klein, Hoover, and others trying to make up for it this year but it's not enough to offset Peter's attitude and Hines apparently not giving crap.

I cancelled my subscription last week after having it most of my adult life.

I think the drill is this. The OU beat writers get paid a better salary, then the Thunder, then OSU and then everyone else. I can't confirm this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the TW isn't being set up to be taken over by the DO at some future point. They simply can't accept the fact that they have lost so many readers because of the content (or lack therof) in their paper.

As I've said, when I cancelled, the paper sent me a letter in response and I rsponded about my many reasons I was ending the relationship. But I they are like a little child who listens but does not learn. I suggested they would have to make major changes in several sections of the newspaper. But I doubt they even glance at those letters. When the Lortons sold out, I thought there would be real change, but the result has just been more of the same except less of it "local". Thats the opposite of what needs to be done IMO.

She is out of her element, she isn't a sports writer, and never was. She'll be one-and-done with Tulsa, hopefully she lands in a department she has a burning desire to cover, the obits or classifieds maybe. I'm tired of her deer-in-headlights analysis on radio and the TV World clips. People want entertainment, vitality, a pulse, these reporters are asked to wear both a personality hat and a literary hat, and KH comes up short in both departments. Yes, I'm being cruel, but I'm sick of the sophomoric effort.

I agree. I like listening to KH talk about TU every week. I like that Pop is the sideline reporter. I missed the weekly conversations about TU when Haisten was on the beat simply because he chose to take his talent to the OSU Radio Animal. Now all we need is someone to smack Chadwick in the head so he can regain his senses and come back on the Buzz

Poplin now doing sideline reporting for TU has dramatically changed his attitude towards TU and the coverage in general.

On that note, he does do a great job as a sideline reporter!

I'm waiting for the Berkshire Hathaway broom to sweep up the deadwood in the Tulsa World sports department. In that regard both Peters and Hines should both be gone.

............ of contract the job to Harmon.

I say contact Plank and voice our displeasure with the Hines segment. She has been giving subpar writings and backhanded compliments ever since she took over the TU beat, and it carries over to the Tulsa airwaves. I know Plank reads our messageboards, but flooding his email with requests to replace the Hines segment or simply stop talking TU sports with her vs the threat of losing listeners seems to be the logical step. It's not like the entire segment is about TU, so dropping TU talk seems like a logical move if he must talk to her.

I would much rather listen to one of TU's Asst. coaches each week, some insight into the program, as opposed to the crap that Hines drops.

But then what would they do with that 30 second audio intro that says her name 75 times?

Y'alls a buncha meanies. I remember waaaaaaay back in the day, I'd get stuck having to cover a high school rasslin' regional. I'd just fill the story up with quotes b/c I had no clue what the hell I was watching, nor did I care. Buncha yayhoos rollin' around the floor in tights.

Maybe she should use the alias of Li'l Eric Bailey.

Pretty hard-hitting journalism lol

Sepp, those would be tights. Or as Andrew Clark, varsity letterman, stated in The Breakfast Club 30 years ago ... "the required wrestling uniform." To which brainiac Brian Johnson responded, "Tights".

A "cutesy" article on the day of the biggest tournament of the year??????????? Klein was much more on target . Would be interesting to see Cincy and UConn beat writers articles and see if they are talking about cute names or the games at hand.

They would be better off hiring one of us to write and just paying part of the plane ticket and beer.

It's really damning when a couple staff writers (Klein & Hoover) write better stories about TU, and provide better sportstalk, Klein (The Buzz), Hoover (Sports Animal).

Is it? They have more experience. I'm all about being critical here, but let's not make statements just to make them.

Dude they're senior columnists. They should be much better, and they are.

Maybe damning isn't the right word, but when the piece being worked on all week < a column someone threw together on their lunch break...

And we're talking about sports talk radio. There's only one question to ask: why are you listening to sports talk radio?

Seriously, there's a lot of other things you can do with your time. Go on a walk, work, eat a sandwich, go to the movies, call your mom.

I love sports radio. Informative and entertaining and makes me think.

Lots of other things we can do with our time than hanging around here too.

Some of us walk AND listen to sports radio.

Must be nice to have time to listen to it. I don't think there is much information or entertainment value. The Big Show has grown on me, but it's more a respect thing than actual interest in listening to it. I think you get better info on here. Regardless, complaining about a beat writer's contribution to local radio is weird. Her job is to write, not entertain amidst the winners who call into that show.

Yep, it's really the one thing I can do during a normal workday in the background.

I can't be on Rivals or Twitter all day.
