DMFJ

He turned down too many shots to come close to scoring that for us.

It's crazy to me that we had a dude who shot 50/40/80, led the conference in block rate, won the national dunk contest, and is now showing the ability to put up 44 in a game... and we still have fans complaining about him instead of the coach who didn't know how to use him and gave half his minutes to Geno Artison.

If you are talking about me complaining, I am not. I don't know why he turned down those shots. It may have been him being drilled with taking a 'great' shot, and chastised for shooting too much in practice. I am simply saying that within our system, he turned down shots.

Scored 44 tonight for the Stockton Kings. He was super aggressive creating his own shots. Just wondering how much Haith misused him.

He didn’t give it all all the time.
That was his biggest issue here. He was obviously immensely talented but, only chose to utilize that talent occasionally.

Do you have him confused with Anthony Price?

I think it’s a byproduct of Haith’s style and the way he wanted to use Daquan. Daquan was probably playing the style Haith wanted him to play which obviously didn’t suit Daquan’s strengths.

There are guys who played their roles in college with moderate success and then go to the NBA and go off because the different style of game fits their strengths better.

To be honest, facing so many zone defenses because of our overall lack of outside shooting (as a team) hurt Daquan’s strengths of beating guys 1v1. He scored 44 and how many of those were on dribble drive plays where he was isolated on a single defender? How many times did he really get the chance to do that here last year?

I agree, much like Vince Carter, the change in rules from college to NBA help DMFJ, the ability to isolate, continuation for fouls, 0 step/no travel rules, and star system allow him to exploit his skill set in ways he could not at Tulsa. Particularly our outside shooting and Haith's system limited him some, which may have led him to disappearing at key points.

Like UCF's Fall I also think he is showing the growth of good coaching now that he can fully focus on that.
