If these schools start offering up NILs, can they start making kids sign some kind of multi-year contracts? Hunter Dickerson just straight up said I will get more cash at Kansas than Michigan.
Some are. Pretty sure schools are getting around some scholarship limits by having big time NIL types be walk ons. I know it’s happening at Michigan for football. The great news is with some of these players getting million+ NIL agreements, I guess the school doesn't need to give them a scholarship. They can start paying for schooling themselves.
To TU’s credit, they have constructed a framework for the students to pursue NIL and avoid major tax mistakes. But they aren’t required to use it, as I understand it. I’m sure we are going to hear some horror stories out of other schools soon followed by excuses of unfair treatment. These young people don’t understand the tax implications of what they’re doing - yet.
