Cincy got a great win last night vs #24 Xavier.

They started hot and got ahead then fell behind as a Xavier kid went nuts on 10-10 FG/8-8 from 3 and like 4-4 FT's before missing one halfway through the 2nd. He ended up 12-15/9-11 with 40 points.

Cincy chipped away at the deficit and won by 8.

Great win for the AAC.

They missed 19 free throws and still scored 86 points on 66 possessions. This is likely the best AAC team we've seen since joining the conference.

That win also solidified the conference standings in RPI. AAC will likely finish 7th ahead of the A10 again this year.

Of course their head is getting bigger because of this basketball team. I'm know they are looking for any out to exit our conference. Like what it does for our conference, don't like that it is Cincy doing it. Hope they go far in the tourney to earn us some money.

There's no place to go, and certainly won't ever be the Big XII. Only thing that happens is if SEC, ACC, B1G want to get to 16 but I'm not sure any of the money makes sense for them to do that right now since all of those conferences have signed long grant of rights agreements, networks aren't so jumpy at adding more schools.

I never said there was any place to go, just that they want to leave enough to go after any remote possibility.

I get it...but we all know football is driving the bus right now. Their football program is in turmoil.

Does the AAC get a third team in the tourney and if so who?

Depends...I think Memphis can get in if they make a late run like they did last year. I don't think UCF has the same non-con resume.

I can see paths for Houston and Memphis, but I wouldn't bet on either one.

UCF winning the tournament in Orlando may be our best shot at getting 3 teams in.

The tourney is in Connecticut.

Thanks for the correction, Nevada. I know I had read that Orlando was given a 2 year contract to host the AAC tournament in 2016 & 2017. Apparently the AAC moved the tourney to Hartford for 2017 after Orlando got first & second round NCAA games this year. The AAC will give Orlando their 2nd AAC tournament in 2018.

I don't see UCONN taking advantage of their home court advantage this year, so I'll agree Memphis is probably the best chance for 3 teams in the dance this year. Seeding & matchups will always be a big factor in any underdog winning the whole thing.

I think only 2 UC and SMU, which I expect to see in the finals of the conference tourney. Finishers in 3rd, 4th and maybe 5th to NIT. That would be a great outcome for this overachieving TU team.
UH is fading. UCF is being exposed. Memphis is just ok.

Can't wait to go back & kick Houston's butt at home. I think UCF & Memphis are going to be incredibly tough road games. I expect we will lose one or both.

We are currently only favored in 3 of our next 10 but I'm hopeful we can pull out 5-5 in them.
I think we will go somewhere beween 4-6 to 6-4. I don't think 5-5 is too much to hope for. If we could pull out a win this week, that would put us a heck of a lot closer to a 6-4 finish.

Cincy looked unbeatable today...
This is a nothing to lose game for Tulsa. Should play fast and loose. No pressure.

All,
This experience is available for both Cincinnati and SMU this week. Come watch the Cane warmup right in front of you. Bring your friends or family. If you know of anyone who would be interested please forward. Courtside pregame experience comes with lower level tickets as well. Thanks! REIGN CANE

I am normally terrified of our game with Cinci, but I feel better about it this year. Am I crazy in thinking we match up better with them than we have in the past?

Though admittedly, this version of Cinci looks a lot better than last years version.

We match up better. Igbanu and Magnay can bang underneath right there with the Cincy goons that play down low. Etou is a match up nightmare for many teams because of his versatility and complete game. If we can get a couple of guys hitting from outside Cincy may have to come out of there matchup zone D which is always tough to play. On the flip side, if we make lazy passes we could lose by 25. It will also be interesting to see how much the AAC is going to try to protect Cincinnati with the officiating the rest of the way.

UC has played a lot more man recently on defense. They'll still use the matchup zone on occasion, but I wouldn't expect to see much of it tomorrow...

Hopefully with the Navy and UH meltdown in football after the AAC provided protection vs TU they'll strongly consider letting the teams decide the game.

They'll give us Zelton and Edsall and not respond to any questions or comments.

That's a change from Cronin's normal D. He must have the athletes to play the pressure man to man (or the depth). UC has been extremely efficient on D since Cronin has been in charge.

I expect to see more zone against Tulsa unless we can shoot them out of it. Etou and Taplin can get to the rim against just about anyone.

Cinci is a great program. It's an honor to get to play against you guys.

I don't like the way your coach handles himself or treats his players, though. We had a coach like that. Everyone was happier when he left.

We're a really young team. We have some depth, but we will have to play our best game of the year and then have some luck to hang with you guys.

Yeah but if Ojick was as successful as Cronin has been, he'd probably still be here.

Do you live in Palo Alto? Wojcik thought it was his duty to get out of town. He actually had shills on message boards marketing him to other schools at point (in addition to a few of us who tried to help him out, too). He was in the first flight out of town. The paperwork was turned in on time.

Too true, he just would've just left for a better school than Charlotte, or Coastal Carolina, or College of Charleston. I always get all those C schools in the Carolina's mixed up.
