An athletic dunk from Chris Barnes in LA summer league action. I believe he is in Tulsa now with all the newcomers.

I wonder what level of drew league competition he played against I’ve seen NBA pros play in that and complete scrubs.

A foreign tour is the only way that Haith can be ready for the first few games. We get one every four years I think . Not sure when the last one was but it gives extra practices and a huge advantage to those teams early.

I believe it was Manning’s first year when we did a Canadian tour. If so that would have made us eligible as soon as Harrison and Woodard graduated. I really hoped we would do it when we had that big incoming class. It may be a financial issue.

OSU's Italy trip this summer is costing the school $300k fwiw.

Are they being given golden jewelry by the pope or something? 2 Weeks in Europe shouldn't cost anyone more than 3K flights included. Sending 25 people over should probably be around 75K... 100K tops for stays in nice hotels. Maybe OSU upgraded all the coaches / admin to 1st class.

They booked through Perelli tours? Robert Allen wanted the unlimited pasta option? They are playing in Venice and everyone gets their own gondola?

Our AD surely must know that winning most of the early OOC games and the extra practice will be worth MUCH MORE than trip expenses. Losing a first game to a weak sister causes attendance failures , with the dollars much exceeding the expense of a foreign trip. Whoever is holding us back is causing a huge disappointment to the University.

The $300k is the stated fund raising goal for the trip. Suppose some of those funds could going to other expenses.

$150k is to skip the line at the Vatican to meet the pope.

I'm sure they are looking to charter a flight that would include the team, support personnel, and some highly influential donors. Charter flights usually cost a little more than a regular flight. Plus, you know they don't stay in Motel 6 or AirBNBs when they do these trips.

I know their traveling to Venice, Rome and Athens and seeing the sights in all three cities. No clue where the $300k figure came from though. Cost of a chartered round trip flight to Italy is probably upwards of $175k.

It's ridiculous to charter a flight for less than 50 people over the atlantic. OSU donors might as well light the $$$ on fire.

There are plenty of reasonable seats on commercial flights.

I mean, I totally get bumping some of the tall guys up to a class with some leg room. But there's no reason to pay around 7K a seat to send 25 people to Europe.

They used to give us exit rows for our 6’9”
Guys for more leg room. Some OSU travel agent is trying to pocket a ton of money it appears.

I tried to find a list of costs for other schools foreign tours. Easy to find lists of who is going where, found a travel agency with a huge lists of colleges that uses its service, lots of articles on the benefits of foreign tours... but for a common practice among public University's, the actual costs is amazingly hard to find.

The cost of the OSU Italy trip hasn't been announce as far as I know. The $300k was the fund raising goal so I think it's safe to assume the cost would be in that neighborhood. I assume they will use the fact that they fly the players is a private charter, stay in first class hotels, etc...as a recruiting tool.
