saw this on the AAC board tonight:

“From the “how can it get any worse at SMU DEPT...”

2019 signed recruit Bryce Cook suffered a stroke yesterday.
He went into surgery last night and appears to have come through it ok.

Can’t stand SMU, but gotta offer up prayers for the young man. Too young to have his life changed so dramatically overnight.

BASKETBALL RECRUIT OUT OF HOSPITAL AFTER STROKE

"Bryce Cook, a former South Grand Prairie point guard who will play for
SMU next season, suffered a stroke on Sunday night and was hospitalized,
but is now recovering and "doing better" his current head coach said.

Cook, who transferred from South Grand Prairie to Sunrise Academy in
Bel Aire, Ks., for his senior season, was found unresponsive Sunday,
according to Stacy Houston, a family friend of the Cooks.. He was rushed
to the emergency room for treatment.

Cook played in the Thanksgiving Hoopfest at Duncanville this past weekend..
He is recovering at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, Ks.

On Tuesday, Sunrise coach Luke Barnwell, in a text to the DMN, said Cook
is "doing much better!" He added that Cook has full movement and strength
in his arms and legs."
