Another nice scrimmage for TU basketball. Blue/ Gold/ officiated. Very few fans after decent ALS advertising. Maybe most were basking in the glory of that tremendous football victory.........

Anyway this may have been the scrimmage for the guards. They pretty much controlled everything today and there seemed to be little passing to the interior , and the passes in there were dished out to shooters. Pritchard and Griffin ran the show for each team and Griffin continued his stellar play with 25 points, today more 2's than 3's and penetrated the lane really well. He continues to be a top player IMHO after two scrimmages . Pritchard looked more comfortable today and had less Freshman mistakes. His game is very similar to Griffins with lots of penetration. Pritchard ended up with about 16 points on all twos and free throws.

Horne exploded today from outside with 25 points and 7 threes. Why we leave him open since 14 of his teammates know he is deadly with that shot and not tremendous on the drive is beyond me. It is similar to how we leave opponents wide open every year. I just hope he continues to be that deadly.

KES did not play today. Not sure what type of injury or problem there was.

Dalger continued to be a top player but today was more of an outside threat than inside. He had 20 points which included 4 threes.
Rebounded well and really plays hard.

A nice surprise was a huge improvement with Nikita Konstantynovskyi today. He had 8 points and is a really good rebounder over the size players we have. Coaches send him out to ball screen so much he didn't get many touches inside and when he was open, our guards had trouble seeing him....at least today. He has so many good skills, a really good sleeper IMHO.

Another improving player over scrimmage # 1 was LaDavious Draine who gathered 16 points and had 2 threes. He looked more comfortable with his teammates today, having been with them longer now.

Jackson did everything in the stat book....blocks, assists, steals, took charges,,,took one outside shot and nailed a three with perfect form. I hope we can keep him 3 more years.......

Elkamil played much better with good moves and a pretty good shot. 6 points . Needs to be able to shoot off the dribble and create a little more.

SGC (Sterling Gaston Chapman made a couple of threes but missed a couple of wide open threes ,,made 6 points and still has some Freshman look.

Earley had 4 points and looked very capable inside. Idowu had 6 as well and a fairly good outing but it was not a day for the Bigs to shine as the guards took over the game.

Urbancic and Seals had spot minutes

Last week I tried to give my six starter picks. And a few who might make that six. Here goes today after two scrimmages: I will put down 4 who really separated themselves) and add some that might make the other 2 or 3. * There is no (5) in this list and we will need one.

Horne
Griffin
Dalger
Jackson

Others close.... KES (moved him here due to unknown), Draine (really came on today), Nikita K. (I like him), Pritchard (getting better quickly), and Idowu (He should make the top 5)

Elkamil, Gaston-Chapman, Urbancic, Seals. all still young but working hard.

Earley and Haywood are still big question marks. Either could break through , I hope for one or both.

I think these scrimmages should really help Haith make the right player decisions early this year......hope..hope..hope...

I am really impressed with the scoring ability of Griffin , Horne , and Dalger. Now we need rebounding , rebounding, rebounding. (and three point shooter defense)

If any of you who attended saw something different, please add to the summary. They are fun to watch and see them develop.
