Transferring. Rothstein beat Hines to the story.

Good luck to him. I think he could be good. Needs to work on flowing with the offense and letting game come to him. He's an interesting player.

No surprise here. Way too small for the AAC and the position he played. A good player for Albany's conference.

I think you'll end up seeing him at LIU-Brooklyn or maybe even a Hofstra. His style seems to fit the typical LIU-Brooklyn pace and frenetic pace that school usually plays.

IMO, it wasn't as much of a size issue as it was an understanding issue. Korita is the same size and both played the wing position. He didn't seem to understand fully what was going on, on both offense or defense. He seemed lost on offense and never got good defensive position, either in zone or man.

Yes, he did play the 4 some, in small lineups but I believe that was more to limit him playing further from the basket. I mentioned this before, but I coached a player very similar. He never picked up our offense and didn't understand help defense.

He chose to stay on our team but never got much playing time. I agree with Gold that he could be good in another situation, where they play more unstructured. And that will most likely be at a lower D1 level.

Evaluating prospects is difficult. You can watch a player run and dunk or shoot the 3-pointer, but in AAU play, where most of the prospects are seen, it's more like semi-structured street ball. Its easy to see athleticism--more difficult to judge BB IQ or game understanding.

Some players, like Magnay, picked up everything and did it quickly. Atson and a few others, not so quickly. I wish both Travis and Joseph the very best. In many situations like this, the player ends up in a better situation and is happier in the end. I hope that's the case.

Hope you are right Bill- Best of luck to Travis! He didn't look the same size as Lawson, but I only was able to watch on TV. Was really excited about him and he could have developed, but it's the business- have to win now or else- not fair, but with the salaries the way they are understandable

That's two. Best of luck to Atson in what I hope is a better fit for him to showcase his talents.

Haith now has 2 roster spots open. The onus is on him to get Cincinnati/ SMU level replacements.

well, if Haith can reel in a stud, he could play like Bill Self did and surprisingly find a new opening.

If I remember correctly, Cornwell and Bennett cleared the way for David Shelton and Charlie Davis. Or it may have been Marquis Ledoux.

There isn't much left they can or should cut.
Agree....Of the nine returners, only Artison didn't get a lot of PT, and that was
due primarily to a leg injury....And, as you posted yesterday, he has the potential
to develop into a solid player.....He has guard-type skills and a 6'9" body..Luckily,
coming out of JUCO, he had three years of eligibility left....

Somewhat off topic, but with nine returning players that can play, and 4 more
coming on board that can play, this summer and pre-season this fall will see some
really competitive scrimmages.....To me, that's a good thing!

I think it was Ledoux. If I remember correctly he was a 4* transfer from LSU. Davis came in as a freshman.

Yes, Ledoux was a big time transfer. I'm just uncertain who the last two players signed were.

The recruiting class of Dante Swanson, Antonio Reed, Demario Hooper, David Shelton, Charlie Davis, and Marquis Ledoux was pretty good. I'll take that any year. All did weel except for Hooper, who transferred after a year of playing very little for the Elite 8 team.

I know that Swanson, Reed, and Hooper were early signees.

Now that you mention it, Swanson may have been a spring signee. But he wasn't as late as Davis, Shelton, or Ledoux. I remember this because I remember watching Swanson in the state title game against McGuinness. I remember being excited about seeing Swanson since he was going to go to TU.

Swanson played really well in the state title game but Wagoner didn't have the overall talent to defeat McGuinness. Swanson hit some long range three's and showed he drive to the basket. Good foreshadowing of things to come.

I remember Reed and Swanson found out they were cousins when they were at TU.
