Another embarrassing second half collapse

So much for the “halftime adjustments “.
You really can’t blame Haith he was won big at Miami mizzou read Tulsa World article Hall of shame coach kelvin said he respected Haith and that he thought Tulsa got no respect and they should he said Haith was a great coach

He’s not an all-star coach but, his recruiting and his staff has certainly improved. We should be able to compete for the top of the league next year and get an at-large bid. If not, it’s just simply not going to happen with him.

He's getting all he can from the guys he has.

His recruiting must improve. We all have been sayin' the same thing for years now.

I have really mixed feelings on Haith this season...the team has shown some flashes.... but I'm not sure if it's enough. I'd be interested to see what a coach like Marshall or Sampson could do with our roster as compared to Haith. I can't quite tell this season, if Haith is overachieving or middle of the pack. We have several exciting wins, but we also have a number of losses that really irritate me. I'm on the fence.

We don't have the type of budget to pay for a coach like Marshall or Sampson. I think Haith is a good but not quite elite coach. I see him as either the 3rd or 4th best coach in the conference.

This has happened a couple of times. I think they came out fired up and ready to play. And you can never really predict a kid scoring 19 pts in a row for a team like Mills did. And some of those shots were ridiculous....long and beyond NBA depth, some he had hands in his face and guarded fairly well. Sometimes kids get hot like that.

We seem to panic when things start going that way. This was almost a carbon copy of the Cincinnati game...with the exception that the effort and passion from our guys didn't wane this time. We just start getting into a "must shoot 3s" mode to keep up in the game and that just doesn't work because we don't have that one shooter. The ESPN guys and Haith have seen it where any of our guys can get hot from outside, but it rarely happens, and it never happens when more than 1 player gets hot. There's only so much Igbanu can do and when you are trading 2s for 3s, and sometimes only 1 for 3 (because we can't hit FTs in key moments), you get into panic mode earlier than you really should. For me, the key moment in the game that basically said game over was Korita getting fouled beyond the arc and missing the 1st 2 FTs. Instead of down 7, we're still down 9, soon to be double digits (something like that). 2nd was Rachal missing the dunk, Hill getting trampled/fouled, no held ball/travel called, and a 3pt play the other way (we were still in the game at that point).

UH fan here. Everyone I talk to loves your coach and respects your team. There are some experienced players on our message board and they have no clue how your defensive rotations work. For 3 out of the four halves we played you guys, our offense has been way below average.

We got in your heads last night and that’s going to happen with kids these age. We completely lost it a few weeks ago in Cincinnati. It happens to all of us. Keep doing what you are doing. Sampson’s first couple of seasons were slow but steady improvement.

I think Houston is almost impossible to beat on a night where the refs let them get away with tons of fouls on their offensive rebounds. They like to attack the glass, and if the refs let them get away with jumping into / over ever defensive rebounder, you're going to have a really bad night. I was really wondering why we were playing Jones over Ugboh. I know Ugboh's not a terrific rebounder, but at least he's a body with size.

I only saw one or two offensive boards where I felt they got away with going through the player. most were because they jumped higher and wanted the ball more. I did not agree with the foul call on Korita on one of them as he seemed to be positioned and turned to find the ball while the UH player tried to twist back reaching for the ball and ended up coming down on Korita. The correct call is not always made in that regard. Korita is entitled to the space he was occupying and just because the UH player jumped did not mean Korita cut him.

Most of the calls that frustrated me were the slapping at the ball when one of our guys did grab a rebound or an entry pass had been made underneath. Rachal was complaining about it in the 1st half when he was trying to drive inside and getting slapped at. Igbanu, Horne, and Ugboh all got hacked on defensive rebound attempts in the 1st half where calls weren't made. White set a half dozen illegal screens sliding inside while our defender was trying to get underneath. Wonder why so many wide open 3 attempts? It wouldn't have mattered if we tried to go over the screen...the screener was sliding his hips into the path. That's a call AAC refs have fallen in love with this year...and they simply didn't call it much (if any) last night.

There was a lot that went wrong last night. Rachal cannot go scoreless and TU hope to win the game against a team like Houston. We simply didn't get many contributions offensively from anyone outside of Horne and Igbanu. Joiner needs to settle down. It's OK to play with passion, but don't let that passion consume and control your emotions. And you can't shoot 37% from the FT line. The multitude of missed FTs in the 1st half and early 2nd half killed us.
