So TU finished the regular season 9-20. Second sub 10 win season and probably a discussion about a New coach coming.

That said, Matilda’s crew is absolute hammering Houston (20-10 reg season) by 22 with about 1:30 left. TU has scored 92 points so far

One winning regular season in six years. Do we care enough about women’s basketball to make a change ?

I care enough because I want all of the programs to do well.

And my daughter likes going to the games so we do. They’re more fun when they win

Agree. Having spent the last two weeks in Wagoner watching my daughter play in the Indian Nations post season tourney, I have a renewed interest in women’s basketball....as does my daughter.

I don’t have a huge interest but I will say Matilda has been extremely unimpressive. She has a good coaching history but is not coaching nearly at the level she used to.

Her recruiting is puzzling. TU gets some guards who are outstanding. Ashley Clark was really good. Shut Dickson is a superstar in the making. TUs problem is they have no size underneath. Everyone else seems to have 1-2 6’3” or taller players and TU has a couple of 6”1 players who might be able to slip a sheet of paper under their feet when they jump.

She needs some size

TU loses by 1 to 4-seed Cincinnati on a shot w/ 5 seconds left. TU led most of the game
That was a really good game played by the ladies. I was hoping they would have pulled away but I was happy they played well against them.

Might be a good thing we lost. UCONN in no mood to be trifled with. Up 43-5 on cincinnati at half.
The difference between UCONN and every other program....Geno doesn’t coach against an opponent. He coaches his team to play against a standard of perfection. How perfect can you play this game? There’s a reason they achieve at the level they do. They could just as well be playing the #3 team in the country tonight and the result would be pretty similar

I was shocked they didn’t win the title last season.

Yep. Miss State is very good but it took a perfect storm of them playing as well as they could and UCONN having one of those games where you get no breaks, shots aren’t falling, and everything the other team throws towards the rim goes in.

This version of UCONN may actually be better and deeper than last year. Think about that...UCONN had 3 graduating SRs who were 1st team All Americans.

Do you think UCONN fans are wringing their hands because they played bad the fourth quarter and let Cinci get back into it? :)

Fans no. Gino yes. Actually, I assume he likes the fact they let up in the fourth. Gives him something to be critical off.

And the 4 girls who are walk-one all got to play a bunch.

It was two years ago that I realized that Geno was wired a bit differently than a lot of coaches in terms of his philosophy (and I’ve followed UCONN’s women’s team since Rebecca Lobo brought them to national prominence in the 90s). In the 2Q of the game vs Tulsa, UCONN was up 25 or so with 3-4 minutes left before halftime. His All American PG was bringing the ball up and made a lazy pass that got stolen by Ashley Clark who brought it the other way for a layup. Geno pitches a fit and called timeout and chewed the PG out.

Enjoy it while you can. Now that they’re in a conference with us, Geno won’t be able to recruit anymore and they’ll end up being .500 every year. See how much they’ve dropped off already :)

The UCONN women's program is the rebuttal to why the conference affiliation excuse isn't the real reason behind the UCONN men's drop off.
