Unless the really big upset TU or UCONN occurs.

I need the experts to pitch in here but I will try this:

If Cincy beats SMU:

1. Temple 14-4 * SMU 13-5
2. Houston 12-6 #
3. Tulsa 12-6
4. Cincy 12-6
5. UCONN 11-7
6. Memphis

# Houston wins three way tie. Mini conference all three are 2-2 against each other
Next it goes to games against leader (Temple) where Cincy went 0-2 and TU and Houston 1-1
TU and Houston have the same record against everybody all the way down to Memphis where Houston wins.

If SMU beats Cincy:

1. Temple 14-4 * SMU 14-4
2. Houston 12-6
3 Tulsa 12-6
4. Cincy 11-7
5. UCONN 11-7
6. Memphis

Wow . these are the same. Someone check out these tiebreakers and see if this is right regardless who wins the CINCY-SMU game.

Guys it looks like we may see Pastner again first round. With Houston waiting if we escape.

I think this is correct. I feel confident TU can beat Memphis and UH on a neutral court.

As posted in Alley, the only woory is the Cinncy UConn winner, if it defeats Temple, may have a leg up on TU for at large.

I still think TU has one unique factor in our favor - a win in Dallas. The only team to do so in 2 years.

I went thru this on Wednesday and I'm pretty sure how you stated it is correct. At least that's my understanding.

I think the most likely seeding is 1. Temple, 2. Houston, 3. Tulsa, 4. Cincy, 5. UConn, 6. Memphis.

Houston beats Cincy at home, UConn loses at SMU for a 3 way tie for 2nd (after SMU is taken out)--Tulsa, Houston and Cincy

I believe the tiebreaker is records against each other. Tulsa, Houston, Cincy all went 1-1

Then how each did against the conference champ. Temple swept Cincy and split with Tulsa and Houston. Cincy drops to a 4 seed.

Still tied, you go head to head with the next teams below the tied teams. Houston and Tulsa both split with UConn but Houston beat Memphis, Tulsa lost. Thus Houston get a 2 seed and Tulsa a 3 seed.

So Tulsa would play Memphis, Houston and then probably Cincy.

With the exception of Houston, does the AAC try to protect the top 4 RPI/at-large candidates to see if the conference can sneak all 4 in, i.e. call fair games, no prejudices against a particular team, etc. While you would hope that would always be the intent of any/every referee at any level, we all know it happens...all the time.

They could've worked to lock in Cincy and UConn last night and certainly didn't.
I don't think getting Houston on the bubble was worth Cincy moving closer to the edge from a conference perspective.
Nothing at all to gain with SMU winning... unless it was all for Tulsa, LOL.

In case anyone is wondering here is the bracket and timing of the games:

This has the makings for a really weird tournament. Both teams we are likely to see have had games where they smacked us around at their place. This is the last hoorah for these kids. Hopefully Haith has them ready with a better game plan than we saw in the first match ups against them.

First, let's beat USF though. They beat Memphis who beat us... I'm im no way thinking this weekend will be easy.

USF also beat Houston at Houston.

It will be a loud environment. Our guys should have a good game plan, if they take care of bidness, we should be fine. Then everyone on the board should get some rest and go see LEC's last show with the Shame at 10:30.

More the point, were the games called fairly and evenly? I don't have a problem with us getting called for more fouls if we are legitimately committing more fouls...and if you call particular contact or bumps a foul on one team, you better call it on both. We beat Cincinnati in a physical, playground beat-em up game...but the referees applied the same standards to both teams. Last week vs. Memphis we got called for touch fouls and TE Goodwin got to block downfield. If they call the game evenly, I think we beat any of the top 5 teams if we play the way we played through February. Cincinnati is the toughest matchup for us inside, but we are a tough matchup for lots of teams with our speed and athleticism and our SEQUEL!

So we're staring at an 8pm game on Friday...I like it. What I'm not sure about is us having a 3:15pm game on Sunday for the championship. Maybe the AAC thinks that forces the committee to plug extra at-large teams in for the AAC vs. doing a ton of last minute shifting because some team won the conference in an upset.

Also, does anyone think Houston is a legit bubble team right now? Does UH get extra consideration from the committee (read Castiglione) because of Sampson (with that in mind does Sampson work against UH in that regard?)

Houston's home loss to USF is a REALLY BAD loss. Also, UH lost to Grand Canyon on a neutral court OOC. I recall that UH had another really bad OOC loss. At 70+, the only hope UH has is to win the ACC. UH is a cinch high NIT seed otherwise.

2:15 Central time on Sunday. That's still last minute, just not completely last minute.

I watched most of the SMU game but only a little of the Houston game.
They both were called well IMO from what I saw.

Would anyone have thought a few weeks ago that we would avoid playing Cincy, UConn and Temple until the finals? Memphis and Houston don't help us with RPI or top 50 wins but appears to be a better draw than Cincy in semi's. I guess. Lol.

At this point we just need to win them all and hope Temple/Cincy lose their last conf game. If we get to the finals then 2 of those 3 bubble teams will have to have lost, which I would think eliminates 1 or 2 from at large discussion. No way are we getting 4 teams in. SMU could help us all by beating Cincy. I think that would be the final nail in their coffin.

If we get to the finals, as others on this board are saying, we're in. And along the way at least 1 of the other 3 bubble teams will be gone as well. I could easily see the AAC a 2 bid conference but most like we get 3 in.

Wouldn't a loss to SMU be better than a win for us against USF in RPI standings?

I think the committee takes the finalists if it is Tulsa/ UCONN-Cincy-Temple. They have said several times they want the board wrapped up a couple of hours before the CBS show. The only problem would be a Houston or Memphis in the finals where they would be forced to have an alternate team pencilled in with them. The computers are so good now it can change the bracket without conflicts in a matter of seconds. (if they can remember BYU doesn't play on Sunday's)
