Tulsa has put a premium on recruiting a particular body-type to play defense at a high level.

Eli McWilliams, a 6-foot-3 and 220-pound linebacker from Tahlequah, Okla., fits into that mold. The Golden Hurricane offered the junior on February 26 -- his first offer.

Jocelyn Malaska, a three-star cornerback from Bethany (OK) High School, has been quite busy the last two months as his recruitment has increased. At 6-foot-2 and 175-pounds, Malaska certainly resembles some of the long, rangy defensive backs that people have become accustomed to seeing roam the field for the Golden Hurricane. That is why it’s easy to see what Tulsa saw when they offered

Sierra Canyon offensive lineman Daniel Ademisoye made the long trek from Chatsworth, California to Tulsa two weeks ago for an unofficial visit and to attend a one-day camp. He picked up a scholarship offer during the trip and left the TU campus as a Golden Hurricane commit.

Lawrence (KS) Free State defensive lineman Tai Newhouse, who committed to Tulsa during an unofficial visit back in June, has helped his team to a 6-2 record this season while dominating on the line of scrimmage.

On the first day of the early football signing period, which runs Dec. 15 to Dec. 17, Tulsa signed all but one of its current commitments. A total of 12 recruits signed letters of intent with TU, including two from Oklahoma.

Tulsa signed 12 prospects in the early December signing period and also added two Division-1 transfers in DL Jayden Simon from Colorado and WR Isaiah Epps from Kentucky. However, the Golden Hurricane has plenty left to do in order to fill out its 2022 recruiting class.

Over the last week, TU hosted seven recruits for official visits, lost a commitment to a Pac-12 school, and extended offers to six more 2022 prospects - three in high school, one D-1 transfer and two in junior college.

Tulsa is gearing up for another big official visit weekend this week -- the last one before the regular signing period begins -- and the Hurricane still has almost a dozen spots to fill.

The Golden Hurricane received 15 total letters of intent for the class of 2022, including 12 in the early December signing period, and also added two mid-term D-1 transfers. The following is an in-depth recap of Tulsa's 2022 recruiting cycle, with focus on in-state prospects, battles with Power Five schools and AAC foes, as well as what's left for TU as they still have open scholarships.

Tulsa football coaches continue to pursue players in the transfer portal, as well as junior college prospects, in order to fill some holes on the 2022 roster. TU hosted three D-1 transfers for official visits last weekend, and another is expected on campus this weekend.

Tulsa football coaches have hosted several transfer defensive backs for visits recently, and the Hurricane was able to secure a commitment on Tuesday from Wisconsin transfer Donte Burton.
