At the beginning of August, Tulsa picked up its first football commitment in the class of 2020. For 3-star running back Tahj Brooks, TU was the right pick for many reasons.
The Tulsa Football roster already includes two players from Temple, Texas, and last week the Golden Hurricane offered another talented athlete from the school. Class of 2020 wide receiver Quentin Johnston is off to a hot start in his first season as a varsity starter, and it didn’t take long for TU coaches to take notice.
3-star Manor (TX) running back Tahj Brooks, who committed to Tulsa in August, has seen his recruitment explode with a slew of new offers. The 5-foot-11 and 207 pound back had a stellar junior season.
Killeen (TX) Ellison defensive tackle Everitt Rogers attended Tulsa's June 8 camp and came away with an offer. A week later, he was committed to the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa was the first FBS program to offer offensive lineman Gabe Cantu, but the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder from Tulsa (OK) Union had also been receiving strong interest from Iowa State, Memphis, Kansas, Texas State and Arkansas. After some long thought, prayer and talks with his family, Cantu felt led to commit to the Hurricane.
It didn’t take long for Jaden Muskrat to know that Tulsa was home. The 6-foot-4 and 275-pound offensive lineman from Bentonville (AR) West verbally committed to the Golden Hurricane on June 19.
Spring (TX) Westfield wide receiver Malachai Jones had racked up offers from Memphis, Lafayette, Texas Southern, Abilene Christian and Central Arkansas, but he was still looking for the right fit. Tulane and Rice were also showing interest, but Tulsa was a program that intrigued the 6-foot, 177-pounder.
On July 26, Jones attended a prospect camp at Tulsa, earned a scholarship offer and quickly committed to the Golden Hurricane.
San Saba (TX) athlete Sean O’Keefe earned an offer from Tulsa coaches after working out at a TU summer camp, and the 6-foot-2 and 180-pounder committed to the Golden Hurricane the next day.
Bayne Tryon knew what he wanted in his college home. The Cypress, Texas, native got a glimpse of just that when he picked up an offer from the University of Tulsa after attending a camp on July 26. Five days later, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound tight end from Cy-Fair High School pledged his commitment to the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa Football currently has 15 commitments in the 2020 class, and with the early December signing period just over five weeks away, Hurricane coaches are searching for additional key pieces.
Tulsa's come-from-behind win over UCF came at a good time, as the Hurricane is hosting two official visitors this weekend. One is an SEC transfer, and the other is a junior college prospect.

With a month to go in the 2020 recruiting cycle, Tulsa Football still expects several additions, including at least three Division-1 transfers. The Hurricane has extended a few new offers over the past two weeks, and several recruits will enroll at mid-term this month.
NEO A&M defensive end Bryce Alonso told Inside Tulsa Sports this weekend that he has signed with Tulsa and will begin classes at TU on Monday. The 6-foot-4 and 250-pounder graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa and will join several other mid-term enrollees at TU.
