2018 Softball in DFW

This weekend is the North Texas Invitational at University of North Texas in Denton.

Friday:
Game 1 Nicholls State 11:00 am
Game 2 UNT 1:30 pm
Saturday:
Game 3 Texas- Arlington 10:00 am
Game 4 Nicholls State 12:00 pm
Sunday:
Game 5 Texas-Arlington 9:00 am

Nicholls State is 9-6 on the season.
UT-Arlington is 7-6 on the season
UNT is 7-4 on the season.
I’m seeing no common opponents.
LOTS of rain in DFW hopefully it’ll dry out enough to be a nonfactor.
This is 30 minute drive for us and my catcher girl and I were hoping to make it to at least one game. With all the rain our high school tournament games are being rearranged and not sure how that’s going to work out.

Our OOC schedule appears pretty weak for a squad many believe is a top 25 type of team. Anyone know the reasoning behind the schedule? I could see it hurting our RPI and seeding when it comes tourney time.

Seems like coach is trying to ID a 2nd pitcher. Higley seems to do fine as a relief option if she only goes through the lineup once. Pochop doesn't seem to have stuff to get better hitters out yet.

Shelby Estocado is batting .415 Slugging .708 with 5 HRs
Julia Hollingsworth is .393, Slugging .607 with 3 triples
Emily Watson is 7-2 in 9 appearances with 6 Complete Games ERA 1.88 and 66 K
Samantha Pochop is 4-3 in 8 appearances with 1 Complete Game ERA 3.15 and 27 K
Haley Meinen has 6 appearances with an ERA 2.14 in 16 innings. In one interview it was stated she’s not as comfortable starting, but prefers the relieve roll.

All stats are treading in the right direction after a shaky start, but the bottom half of the order still needs to step up.
If improvement continues with this coming week I'm not as worried as I was.
