Take aways from the game...
-- Garcia did not suit-up, so the defense covered Reed and Smikle with 1 defender and their 2 bigs were both better.
--There was no going into the center and a kick out for easy baskets
--Physically Reed looks better, but athletically not the improvement one should see after a first season
--Smikle often out of rebounding position and has weak hands
-- Barnes was so-so, I expected better
-- Willis was rusty after a year lay-off due to injury
--Archie had some great moments, but made to many mistakes with the ball
-- Carrington played well on both ends of the court
-- McWright will see time off the bench, unless he shows more than he showed tonight
.. Odem seemed to be the brightest spot on the court tonight and should become more consistent with playing time.
TU played to lose that game and should have lost to the Miners.
We got lucky with the Archie shot at the buzzer and
I thought same thing and add Reed but not even close last nightMost long time fans don’t
willis is a deep threat and so is Barnes. It was a fluky off night. Do we know when Garcia and amadi come back?
Most long time fans don’tHoping for improvement
Two easy Ws before ORU here
That will be the first must W if there is a chance for a winning season
The long time fans dating back to the fairgrounds and the assembly center that o knew tonight are worried
willis is a deep threat and so is Barnes. It was a fluky off night. Do we know when Garcia and amadi come back?Willis with 10 rebounds and Barnes with 9 is promising. But Archie is the only deep threat at this point. Glad they didn't list the turnovers.
But exhibitions mean so much! Eye roll. Here’s the box score from the game. By the way, Missouri State beat SW Baptist 72-67 after leading by 2 at the half. Missouri S&T is predicted to finish 10th in their conference and SW Baptist 15th. Drenin Dinkins, a 6-0 junior,” for SW Baptist, led all scorers with 22 pts. I mention this because I coached his father Dusty Dunkin, when I was an assistant at SW Baptist. I was proud of Dusty and likewise, his son.

Odom and Nash are better defenders. I like seeing Odom and Archie on the court together some.Anyone who was at the game have any insight into Archie's defense tonight?
I know he fouled out early in the OT and had 4 fouls for a good bit of the second half which limited his playtime a bit. I hadn't felt like he was a defensive liability last year. Hoping that's not the case this year.
I'm not better really, but I've been told that -3 is roughly the line given for an expected tossup with the hometeam getting a field goal's worth of homefield advantage.I don’t follow point spreads, I just watch football. When it says the line is UAB -3 does that mean they are favored?
I think so as well, I’m really interested in this game , if we win , things get very interesting, if we lose , it just proves the UTSA game was a flukeThanks, that’s surprising.
