IRVING, Texas — The 20-game American Athletic Conference schedule for men's basketball was announced by the league office today. Tulsa now has a current 26-game schedule with six non-conference contests.
Each of the league's 11 members will face all of its 10 opponents twice, with each playing a home and home series. This is the first season the conference has scheduled each team to play all 10 opponents in the conference twice.
Tulsa, the reigning American Athletic Conference regular season champions, opens the conference schedule on Dec. 15 against longtime rival Wichita State at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tulsa defeated the Shockers last season at home on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Elijah Joiner for a 54-51 victory. After a non-conference game against Northwestern (La.) State, Tulsa heads to Memphis (Dec. 21) before ending the 2020 calendar year at home for a Dec. 29 contest with Houston.
Tulsa starts the new year on the road for back-to-back contests at Cincinnati (Jan. 2) and USF (Jan. 6). TU looks to continue its winning ways over the Bulls, securing victories in all nine previous contests against the Tampa team.
The Hurricane will be back at the Reynolds Center for a Jan. 9 game against UCF, before going on the road for its second meeting of the season against the Wichita Shockers on Jan. 13. Tulsa welcomes Memphis to Tulsa on Jan. 17. TU has won its last five home games against the Tigers in the Reynolds Center, including an 80-40 stomping last season.
Tulsa closes out the month of January with a road game at Houston (Jan. 20), a home contest against Tulane (Jan. 23) and a road game against East Carolina (Jan 30). The Hurricane has defeated both ECU and Tulane each of the last seven games dating back to 2017.
Tulsa will play seven home games during the month of February, beginning with back-to-back games against Florida teams with a home contest against USF (Feb. 3) and on the road at UCF on Feb. 6. Tulsa travels to the Big Easy to take on Tulane (Feb. 10). The Hurricane will end the month by hosting four games in a row with SMU (Feb. 13), Temple (Feb. 17), Cincinnati (Feb. 24) and ECU (Feb. 29).
The conference schedule rounds out with road games at Temple (March 2) and SMU (March 7).
Tulsa begins its season Saturday, Nov. 28 against TCU in the Hall of Fame Classic powered by ShotTracker on ESPN3.
